This is a funs street with great bars and restaurants. The street is lined with historic building with cast iron balconies. Along the street are many hole in the wall bars, restaurants, and two urban parks. One with a large cast iron fountain surrounded by live oaks and memorials. Reminiscent of the squares in Savannah. The other was an urban... More

Dauphin Street is a neat little place to see. There are plenty of places to eat and shop at. The peanuts are fantastic. I do not have to tell you where they are, just smell. you will find them. There was an art walk and farmers market while we were there. We stayed downtown so we never had to get... More

the service was okay but servings were very large and well prepared. It was an easy walk from the hotel. We would return.

Dauphin Street is picking up again. I ate lunch there recently, and sat outside across from Cathedral Square. Lots of art places to go in, lots of sandwich shops, and also recently watched a movie in the Crescent Theater - fantastic place! Cool antique/thrift shop one block away. Neat area to wander around on a Sunday afternoon.

If you get a chance, the visitors center offers a historal walking pamphlet on the downtown area. Dauphin Street has many many buildings with historical significants. The restaurants have outdoor seating allowing you to absorb the ambience of the old South.

Sooo many empty storefronts. Need a bead store for Mardi Gras, a souvenir shop for tee-shirts and magnets/coffee cups, and a quick place to grab a sandwich. Book store at end of block was only store with "life" in it.

An interesting walk down memory lane . . . feels like something out of the 1920's. Full of taverns, art dealers, restaurants, soda fountains, ice cream parlors, street vendors, old hardware emporiums, and just a taste of Americana from years gone by.. Looks and feels a bit like New Orleans and Bourbon Street but a little bit more civilized. I... More

This was a pleasant place for a walk on a Sunday afternoon. The street is charming and the parks pretty. However, many places were closed, permanently, and many buildings had not been restored or spruced up. There were several bums sleeping on benches, etc. The historical architecture is lovely. People were friendly.

I'm torn on Dauphin Street. On one hand, there are several local institutions that serve good food and are filled with good people. On the other hand, many storefronts are boarded up and empty and leave you with a sad feeling.

This should be a good destination. The problem is that most of the shops and stores, including restaurants, are closed and boarded up. There are a few exceptions and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, a beautiful church, is one of the exceptions. Truly disappointing because this street is like so many others in Mobile, virtually deserted much of the... More
