We took the river cruise and were quite disappointed. The boat was really packed and so it was very uncomfortable. While it offered us an idea of the place, the commentary could be more useful/ informational. Nearly everyone on the boat commented that it was a really dull ride. The only exciting part of the ride was when us city... More

A must do. This long ride takes a while but shows you all of the town by river. the boats were frequent and waiting minimal but leave a hour for the whole thing. A must to do.

they really did a good job with the river cruise. even the lighting of houses along the river was fantastic. i wish the cruise was longer ... suggest that there will be exclusive cruises to couples like how they do in macau and paris. i wonder if a dinner cruise is also feasible but then again, the strip is a... We spent most of our stay walking up and down the river to and from our hotel. The houses and cafes on each side are decorated in murals and there is a really good atmosphere as the walkways are generally well used and the small bars, cafes and restaurants. The night river cruise highlighted all of the colour and atmosphere... More

One can take a very nice walk for blocks along the river with bars and restaurants along the way. Regular tour boats take people for about a mile from the start.

go in the evening when all is lit up. then walk it in the day. Great murals on the houses. Lovely river, like being in amsterdam. Have to get on the boat at the beginning, it doesn't stop for you along the way, even tho the signs say it does.

This is a nice experience overall - the main parts are in the beginning. Its an inexpensive trip ($5) that's quite nice. The dutch shop houses are quite nice, as are the graffiti (?) or the murals painted on the houses. The river by and large doesn't stink, which is quite nice. Its not as arresting as the bentota mangrove... More

We just didn't find Malacca interesting at all and the river is just that, a river and not a very attractive one.
