When I arrived in July I was surpised how little was actually happening on the riverside. The section leading up to Jonkers street has a few bars on one side that were enjoyable to sit in and watch the boats go by. So good as a means for getting from A to B, but don't expect too much to happen... More

The river is amazingly beautiful both day and night so please, if you are trying to travel cheap, dont pay for a boat. We rented bikes for 5 MYR from our hostel and biked up and down. One of my best from Melaka

Malaccan must have been working very hard to make this river clean. This once the most important river in the East and currently the hottest tourist spot in Malaysia have a beautiful scenery that can be enjoyed on boat or duck ride. I salute Malacca people for keeping this river out of rubbish despite the number of tourist and visitor... More

Can't value it only with tourism attractions like a good view. Can't stop shivering when thinking about what happened here through the river, and the river witnessed everything including what left nothing to our existing records. Melaka is the most important historical city in Malaysia and can't be imagined without Melaka river. Must be if you're interested not only in... More

Malacca river is a clean river. The river cross the back old shop lot. Along the river I can see many wall painting behind the old shop lot. When you cruise the river, you will see and feel very traditional and oldies time design along the river.

Been here once time during day time. We took the boat trip along the river. Now we came by nite. The nite view along the river is beautiful.

We took the river cruise and it was rather pleasant and a good alternative to walking around the town. Price was reasonable at M$15/adult for a 45 mins ride. The river was murky and brown. Be careful of the occasional water drops splashed from the gentle tides as the boat cruises.

Excellent! As in fairy tale romantic under the stars. Nice to visit on evenings. Nice lights and peace.

I hadn't seen this area for almost 30 years so was thrilled to see how well the riverfront is being used for bars & cafés. But they are not very busy! Are the prices too high or does the river still have an odour? Hopefully the development succeeds like the riverfronts in Luang Prabang - theirs are wonderful.

The restaurants and bars along the Malacca River boardwalks are some of the best ways to idle away an afternoon or evening sipping a nice cold beer or partaking of the delicious food served in several of them. The reflections of the lights at night on the water are magical.
