We did many walks and cycling along the Melacca River. Well done to the local authority on the infrastructure. It is a proper comfy pedestrian walk, by day or night. At night there are few restaurants that open where you can have drinks and just relaxing (and rather romantic I would say) enjoying the river view at night.

The boat trip is a great way to see Melaka and to see the buildings and people, probably taking the trip at night is the better option. Also have a walk along the river and discover a few cafes along the way where you can sit and enjoy the food, drink and watch the river while enjoying the shade.

See Melaka from the river and get an insider's view of some of the crazy street art adorning their buildings. Boats are pleasant and have cover so you're not stuck in the sun.

The river area is very pretty with lots of well kept plants on either side. The buildings have wonderful art work and it is worth taking the short river cruise for 10$ great for taking photos.Nice walk along here which will take you to all the places of interest.

This very affordable 35 or so minute cruise is a good introduction to Melaka. Take it and then note which sights you would like to go and visit when the cruise finishes.

This is a typical river cruise - nothing more and nothing less. They made effort with the river cruise experience and ensure that the you are shown sights of mural, buildings etc. however there lies the problem - its not all that interesting. Murals are badly painted-very basic, whilst buildings are a tad more interesting, there is very little content... More

For only 15RM the river cruise was a great intro to the town. It gave us the history, but also showed us the many riverside bars we then sought out.

Melaka river one time ago is one of the main transport system long time ago. The Melaka River which flows through the middle of Melaka Town in the Malaysian state of Malacca, was a vital trade route during the heyday of Malacca Sultanate in the 15th century.

A cruise along the river was fabulous to see the contrasting architecture and fabulous murals on painted on the walls of many houses and cafes that line the river bank. Pretty bridges span the river and huge iguanas can be spotted swimming alongside the boat or climbing up onto pontoons.

Went in the evening and it was a pleasant 30 - 35 minute ride. Nothing exciting but the view is quite nice as you will not see it otherwise. I was told the ride at night is better when the lights come on.
