I visited the place taking a tour from KL, which was a mistake. The best thing to do would be to spend a few days in Melaka and visit the attractions taking one's time. St. Paul's Hill (Bukit St. Paul) is a nice historical place, worth pacing it slowly and enjoying the views around. Melaka is full with old buildigs... More

If you love to see ruins (and don't mind climbing a hill), you must check this out. It's just within the city, so no need for special transport or trips. The visit here is free (I believe so, at least for me). Special structures to take note is the statue of St. Francis Xavier and of course, the church ruins.... More

Even with young children (4 & 7) and senior (>60s) we made it up the steps and were rewarded with a vista view of old and new Melaka. Spotted Christ Church and glimpse into the past via simple tombs of Dutch colonials. A brisk walk down and we were at the cool fountain opposite the iconic rusty red buildings. Memorable.

From this building, you can see beautiful views over the Malacca street. Not recommend to come in peak season because the crowd with reduce the views. worth it to climb there,

Situated at the highest point in Melacca, St Paul's Hill offers the visitor good views over the whole of Melacca. The historic church with its headstones dating back to the earliest Portuguese and Dutch settlement is well worth the visit. If you have young children, it is worth climbing up the somewhat steep stairs up to the church either early... More

A nice bit of greenery with a good view of the city and sea. Rather spoiled by vendors hawking their wares.

Worth the walk up the hill, with fabulous views over the Malacca straits. Headstones dating back to the 1600's. Great crafts and art available at reasonable prices, but do negotiate.

This atmospheric place encapsulates much of Melaka's history, from the 16th century on. The old Church of the Assumption is bare bones, built by the Portuguese, used and misused by the Dutch and British, and now showcasing the art of descendants of the people who built it. In spite of tourists and hawkers, it retains a peaceful feel, with the... More
