What a way to dwell into the Malaccan history from Malaccan sultanate, to Portugese to Dutch to British history. Suggest to spend at least 3 hours in the museum. The museum has artifacts, paintings which share the information. A stone throw away are the St. Pauls church, Old Portugese fort, Malaccan sultante fort, St. Francis church.

One month driving the Malay Peninsular and Malacca was a highlight. Great places of historical interest. Fort, Museum, Churches, Architecture, old shops and Jonker's Street markets. Both day and night Malacca is alive and interesting. Who knows about the rest of the city? Everything for the tourist and traveller occurs within a few square miles in the World Heritage Listed... The pictures listed on this tag are all over the place. We walked around both sides of the river and found all these places by ourselves. There are some excellent old pieces of architecture, some solid museums, some great street-food-esque spots, and plenty of churches/mosques/temples to see. We went up in the revolving tower thing (20RN for "10 minutes" up... More

We came here on a waking tour and got to see the many parts of the town which was very interesting. We walked through the river and the replica ship, the Dutch square as well as St. Paul's hill and the crypt. We also walked along the museum centre so as to see which ones we wanted to come back... Malacca is a place of great historical significance. Conquered by the Portuguese in 1511 CE, it was the first European colony in Southeast Asia and for about 450 years without interruption under European rule. Since the verymost places in Southeast Asia have little or no history, Malacca has plenty. UNESCO World Heritage since 2008, the old town houses a lot... More

This place truly reeks history. If you like visiting such places, it is the place to go to. There is life-size statue of St.Xavier right in front of church which was bombed by the Japs.
