Cabo de Rama is the southern most fort in Goa. Built by the Portuguese to protect Goa from various intruders and also to guide friendly ships. There is a chapel in the fort and a few canons. But the view 'simply magnificent'. U can sit down on the highest point of the fort and enjoy the calm breeze for hours... More

Lovely little bit of history. Through the entry and you find Hindu cowherd ladies with their cows, in front of a beautiful Catholic church. Worth the scooter ride.

The fort offers excellent views of the sea from Galgibag to Cola. The road to the fort via Betul is very scenic. There is a church inside the fort.

My quest for Portuguese forts in India brought me to the ruins of Cabo De Rama which literally means Cape Rama Fort. Located in the Canacona district of Goa, India just 25 km south of Margao, this is one of the oldest forts in Goa, built much before the arrival of the Portuguese. Mythology associated with the fort says Lord... More
