This was a nice place to relax. The playground was shaded around the picnic tables but the slides were hot to the touch. We enjoyed a nice hike to the Japanese Tea Garden.

I hiked this state park and took one of the longer trails, 3 1/2 miles. This was an easy, extremely well marked trail that offered views off the top of the bluff. There is a very short trail into a beautiful Japanese pagoda that I appreciated seeing. I spent a day here hiking and enjoyed myself all for the price... More

We stayed there on a camp site and also did some hiking and I can truly recommend this place for any campers arriving to Huntsville.

Driving up the mountain to Monte Sano you pass lovely homes and beautiful woodlands. Inside the park the playground looks like it was plunked down into a natural meadow. Picnic area allows breathtaking views and is well shaded, as is most all the park. The stone cabins also offer great views and screen porches perfect for watching the beautiful sunsets.... More

Monte sano state park is 2500 acres of wooded quiet within the city limits of Huntsville Alabama. The campground has about 80 hook-up sites and a dozen big primitive sites suitable for scout groups, etc. All sites are large and shady. Bath houses have adequate showers, sinks, toilets. There's a small camp store and a laundry. For non-campers, charming quaint... More

Our scout troop stayed at one of the primitive sites while visiting the US Rocket & Space Center. The sites are big, and well-separated. The bath houses were good. Didn't get to spend much time looking around or hiking the park which looked beautiful because it was rainy for our visit.

A friend took me up to site see and I enjoyed it very much. It was nice just to be able to sit and look out over the valley and Huntsville. The day was beautiful and very nice weather. There are walking trails, many over looks and picnic tables and grills. We went just so that I could see what... More
