Cool country air

High on a hill with nice vistas is a park with good places to picnic, have group activities, arts and crafts shows, and go hiking. Nice woods, too.

We camped at this state park & enjoyed it very much. The campsites are wooded and spacious (watch out for poison ivy though!) Our site was very level with a gravel surface, fire ring & full hookups. Most sites do not have sewer, though. The road through the campground is paved. The bath houses are older but very clean and... More

Close by the city, expansive forest and native plantscaping is what relaxes me the most.Plenty of parking on the premises.

My husband is a photographer and is always looking for the next shot. He purposly left his camera home for us to enjoy just being together. He thoroughly enjoyed the views from our jeep. Just felt wonderful breathing the clean air and feeling the sun shine. If you love driving the roads in the smokies this is a short but... More

Bugs everywhere.Trails where dirty with rocks debris and where not paved. Food sources not good most of year (blackberry ,persimmons, etc.)Benches were not clean, they had bird poop and could tell they didn't use toilet paper. Nobody including management were available to tell us what type of tortoise we saw on the trail.place was very quiet with no music to listen... More

all of the above and really quiet with trails all over the place. biggest downer was you had to drive off the mountain to the north to find a grocery or resturants.

We went there last weekend and it was such a beautiful location. The trails are very good, some easy, some a bit more difficult. Plenty of clean streams, and forest. I'm a professional photographer so I appreciate the beauty of this location. I noticed several bird watchers while there so if you are into that, this must be a good... More

A lot of historical information. Beautiful period homes and a great park area to visit as well! Very enjoyable.

My family and I came here because the Space Center's RV park was filled. I was amazed at how nice it was. You were right next to a forest. I counted 10 squirrels while I was exploring the park. I had no trouble sleeping because of car noise. The campgrounds were secure and very nice. The bathhouses were very nice.... More

Monte Sano State Park is one of the best places I have ever found for a picnic and I have lived in many different states. It's clean, family friendly, safe, large pavilions you can rent, BBQ grills, hiking, enough space to place ball, beautiful scenery and a little cooler in the summer than in the valley.
