Monte sano state park is 2500 acres of wooded quiet within the city limits of Huntsville Alabama. The campground has about 80 hook-up sites and a dozen big primitive sites suitable for scout groups, etc. All sites are large and shady. Bath houses have adequate showers, sinks, toilets. There's a small camp store and a laundry. For non-campers, charming quaint... More

Our scout troop stayed at one of the primitive sites while visiting the US Rocket & Space Center. The sites are big, and well-separated. The bath houses were good. Didn't get to spend much time looking around or hiking the park which looked beautiful because it was rainy for our visit.

A friend took me up to site see and I enjoyed it very much. It was nice just to be able to sit and look out over the valley and Huntsville. The day was beautiful and very nice weather. There are walking trails, many over looks and picnic tables and grills. We went just so that I could see what... More

It's been a while since we were there, but we have enjoyed the playground and hiking (especially letterboxing) up on Monte Sano mountain. Right before we left, we started having to pay to go to the park. I found this to be a shame, but I understand I guess. I especially like that at this playground, I could see my... More

This is a wonderful park. There is a huge playground for kids, tons of picnic tables and grills, and walking trails. Although we visited in very early spring, it was still lovely and I can't imagine how beautiful it must be when everything is lush and green. It is a great place to go - alone, with family or friends.

The park was clean and it had a good variety of trails to walk and bike on. There is also camping with tents, RVs and they even have a dozen of cabins available.
