Just like other coastal state parks, the beaches within Gulf State Park stay pretty busy in the warmer months. However, in addition to the beaches, this state park has a beautiful golf course and several enjoyable hiking trails. It's definitely worth a visit if you're looking for something other than miniature golf and shopping in the Gulf Shores area.

The beach was wide and clean. The waters were calm enough for even small children. The beach was clean and safety flags changed for weather and currents. The water was warm and wildlife was all around us. We saw fish ride waves, jelly fish and a sting ray. On the shore crabs were hard at work and there were plenty... More

We rented a lakeside 3 bedroom, 3 bath cottage inside the Gulf State Park. It was very nice considering it was inside a state park, the cottage had hardwood floors throughout, granite counter tops in the kitchen, two screened in porches and a deck. There are also multiple piers on the lake within walking distance of the cottages. Your parking... More

We tent camped here for the second time this year this past weekend. We were just as satisfied this time as the first. We really love Gulf Shores and the park is an excellent location. You are very close to walmart, the beach and restaurants. I can't say enough how impressed I am with how big and clean the restrooms/bathhouses... More

I love this park. I've been part-time living in Gulf Shores for 20 years and I try to come to the park every time I'm here. Especially the pier. The pier is a super fun place to come at night to fish or to watch people fish at night. It's very relaxing and peaceful. The park is great because there... More

Cool spot! We came at sunset and boy was it beautiful. Various things were going on while there: 1. Weddings 2. Families taking pics 3. Swimming It's clean and the sand was awesome!!! Great spot.

Visited the park on the spur of the moment and enjoyed it thoroughly. Clean and well kept. The nature center was interesting and informative.

Gulf State Park was much better than we expected for a state park. The location is only 1 mile to the beach and they have free parking lot, covered pavilion, bathrooms and food right at the beach. The CG is all paved so everyone can ride bikes and it is quite large. The spots are all level with full hookups.... More

It's a fun day trip--spend your morning on the trails, and your afternoon in the ocean. Best swimming is east at the causeway. Trails are definitely for bikes, and though you can walk them, it's really not as fun.

During our week long visit to Gulf Shores we stopped at this park multiple times. It has much to offer from excellent camping facilities, outdoor swimming pools, bike rentals, well maintained nature trails and a Nature center just to mention a few things. We attended a free class about alligators in the visitors center and got to see a real... More
