It's just such a cute, random little attraction, even though it has some really fascinating history behind it and is the only monument in the world dedicate to an insect. The monument itself is tiny and it's located right in the middle of Main Street... More

But, this monument acknowledges that the infestation that wiped out cotton around Enterprise was acually a blessing. Without cotton, local agriculture had... More

This is a really cool small statue with a great story behind it! It basically praises the boil weevil for destroying the cotton crop and turning enterprise into the peanut capital it is!

Thanks to the boll weevil and Dr. Carver we have peanut butter! If you are passing thru Enterprise drive down main street, you can't miss it. The boll weevil ate the cotton crops over and over, this was before Monsanto. You had to pick the ugly critters off your cotton one at a time. It must have been a breeze to... More

Just moved here and took a walk through Enterprises beautiful downtown area. We stopped and checked out the Boll Weevil monument as well as read about the history of it. Strange but fun. There are many other things to do there. I'll go back.

Historic monument (only known monument erected to glorify a pest (boll weevil). The farm community changed their choice of crop (cotton) to diversified crops (peanuts, corn, soybeans, etc.
