Dauphin Island is our favorite place to visit. We have been there over 10 times and would love to go again. The sand is white and the beach is usually not crowded. It is pretty much undiscovered by most of the vacationers. The first time we were there the west end still have lots of houses but sadly the last... More

The beach was very clean so was the public restrooms. Depending on where to go you may have to pay $5.00 for parking. Not alot of options for eating out but there are plenty of places to and from the island. We went July 4th weekend and were surprised how uncrowded. It was family friendly, pet friendly and lots of... More

Had to pay $3 per adult and $2 for car in order to park. They only took cash which I did not have so I had to drive back 10 minutes to get money out of nearest ATM. Quiet beach with not much crowd. Not many restaurants around and it was out of the way to get there. It was... More

Really good sand, beautiful water and uncrowded...the perfect combination. The only drawback is the west end of the island goes awash at very high tides or storms

We accidentally stumbled upon the public beach at Dauphin Island. It was lovely. It offered two options: on one side the waves were crashing violently; on the other side the water was shallow and calm. There was lots of space to spread out so if you want some privacy, you can get it. If you prefer to be around lots... More

We decided to go to Mobile to try out some of the beaches in the gulf. The first on the list was Dauphin Island. I must say that I was impressed. It was as advertised, cozy, family oriented, no hustle or bustle, just a nice area to enjoy with the family. Great if you have small kids! Keep in mind... More

We were disappointed with the beach in that two days of our week's stay the water was a brownish color. There were very few dunes on the beach, was was mostly flat. Also, when we looked out to sea we saw oil rigs. Just not what we were hoping for.

I am from NJ and have been to many beaches in FL, HI and overseas but there was something unreal about this beach. We were there in the spring so no swimming but the sand dunes and scenery just make it really surreal and charming. A real hit!

If you want to go to a nice beach with far less people than some of the others around like the gulf shores area near Biloxi, then this is good. Keep in mind that this beach is very secluded from anything else. There is no restaurants or shops around. I would advise bringing your own snacks and drinks (no glass... More

The beach was very clean, the vendors working the various booths had great personalities and were very friendly to guests at the beach. I would recommend it to family and friends as well as visitors from out of town.
