This is a beautiful museum and lots of research has been done to make this a very worthwhile museum. The actual architectural spots are well marked and the owners have taken care to respect the grounds as they should be.

The building between the 2 mounds contains a collection of items that have... More

Not much you haven't seen already in other museums, but if you are in the area it is a nice little local place. Call before going, I doubt they keep regular hours.

Has a great display of artifacts, most found in the fields near by. With local hunters in the Lawrence County area. The Indian festival is always a hit in the spring. Visit Jessie Owens museum while here. One of the USA's best athletes ever.

After looking forward to visiting this museum for some time and driving approx 50 miles one way on Saturday to get there, we found a sign saying this park/museum is closed on weekends and holidays. What??!! Closed on weekends? Why not close on Sunday-Monday. I had a brochure stating the hours are 1-4:30 on Saturdays. Not happy at all, but... More

This attraction includes a museum and a park with lakes, picnic areas, and several ancient mounds of various size. The museum houses artifacts from the surrounding area and from several tribes who inhabited the area, but it mainly focuses on the Cherokee. The museum itself is modeled on a Cherokee building and contains dozens of displays of carvings, jewelry, clothing,... More
