The Belur Math Shrine is where Saint Ramakrishna, the Guru of India's greatest modern leader of Hindu religion renaissance Vivekananda, lived and attained spiritual enlightenment. One can go back in History to see where the Saint lived, the temple he prayed, the place where young Vivekananda met his master and had a catharsis from atheism to deep understanding of Hindu... The Headquarter of RamacKrishna Mission is a place by the river Ganges where anyone would find solace in his agony, solitude in his puzzling moments amidst a serene surrounding. I visited the place innumerable times and go there very often as it is just on the opposite side of the river and still I feel some inherent urge of going... More

Rs 300 for full boat booking - one way - so not that expensive for about... More

My in-laws brought us here as they are followers of Great Shri RamaKrishna. It is quite possibly the most calming place I have ever been. It is so peaceful. Located right on the Ganges with ferry service to Dakshineshwar Kali Temple. Definitely plan in time for reflection here. It is pretty far out of town, but it is good to... More

We obviously did not do our homework and arrived at midday after a long tough... More

A great place to meditate. The place has a certain mystical aura around it and makes you feel the presence of Swamiji.
