The structures are that old and feel quite new. Attended the evening prayers which was interesting to participate. It's more interesting to sit and watch people by the banks of the river. I found other places more interesting than this Shrine

You can either take a local train from Howrah station (about 15mins journey) or cross the river in a local steamer after visiting the Dakshineswar temple. The ashram is spread over a few acres and hosts a... More

Nice place - calm even when very crowded. Since it is on the opposite bank of the river, if you are on a cruise, it is more convenient to visit then.

Founded by Swami Vivekananda as the headquarters of the Ramakrishna mission, on the bank of the Hoogly river, this pace exuberates spirituality. Weather you sit by the riverside, or in the main temple during the evening prayers, one is transformed into a totally different spiritual world. The place is extremely well maintained and clean. Definitely worth a visit by anyone... More
