Liked the atmosphere of the place. Very tranquil and quite even though there are so many people visiting the place every day. A place worth visiting.

If you are an Indian you know about Swami Vivekananda. This place does justice to the mazing Indian monk who took Hinduism and its inclusiveness to the world especially after his Chicago address in 1873. The monument is kept spick and span and reminds you of monuments in the western world. Whatever your faith is please visit the meditation hall... More

I understand why this is so highly rated on TripAdvisor. You don't have to be deeply spiritual to appreciate visiting this beautiful location. Whatever your faith, the place has a calming effect on one. There are a number of temples and shrines spread across the complex, which is situated on the west bank of the Hooghly river. It's a lovely... More

We visited this place on a public Holiday and the place was just too full! The architecture is nice and being on the banks of ganga is a wonderful experience. However, we reached around 5:45 pm. the everyday aarti (prayers) happens at 6 pm and our experience at Belur Math hence did not turn out to be as expected. We... More

RAMAKRISHNA MATH is a monastic organization for men brought into existence by Sri Ramakrishna (1836-1886), the great 19th century saint of Bengal who is regarded as the Prophet of the Modern Age. The breath taking Ganges flowing past and on the banks this heavenly abode. No words can describe the peace and tranquility of this place. A must visit for... More

The trip was a memorable one as it was an opportunity to visit the abode of Swami Vivekanand ji, the apostle of modern Hinduism. The view of Hoogly river is excellent but one is cautioned on the pollution in the river. The view of Dakshneswar Temple is breath taking

I in last 6 months, visited this place twice. Its really really awesome. Every time I go, my mind (to my amusement) starts thinking in a different way, no need to say I get little philosophical (which i keep trying not to be). But whatever it is, its really a peaceful place to visit for people outside of the state... More
