You would want to sit and meditate peacefully in the large meditation hall, in front of the statue of Sri Ramakrishna paramahamsa in peace and calm. you would also get a glimpse of Swami Vivekananda's room adjacent to the meditation hall and a stroll along the river front in the cool breeze would be unforgettable.

People come here for meditation and peace of mind. It is a religious place and envisages Swami Vivekananda and... More

Very good - more from perspective of religion & philosophy than anything else. Belur Math is the first place to be visited for people attached to Vivekanand and his ideology.

The Belur Math shrine is an oasis of calm & serenity amongst the hustle & bustle of the City. The building of the main temple conceived by Swami Vivekananda and designed by swami Vigyananda is a sight to behold. clad in Chunar stone & has the symbols of all faiths built in it. We can see the South Indian pillars... More

The Ramakrishna Paramhansa’s temple in Belur Math enshrines his relics and is very calm and pious place to sit and meditate. I am a ardent lover of Sri Ramakrishna, Maa Sarada Devi and Swamy Vivekananda and have been to Ramakrishna Math in various cities in India. But pilgrimage to Belur Math is altogether a different experience as it is here... More

The staff is trying really hard to avoid photography (not sure why). But the place is must-see. Free entry.
