The Math was on the banks of river Hooghly. This is same place where Hindu Saint Ramakrishna Paramhansa spent his life time. Go there only if one is religiously inclined and want to explore esoteric eastern spituality.

While the place is lovely, if you reach too close to the arti then you will be pushed into the temple whether or not to want to attend it. This was the mistake I made. We were not allowed to sit by the river bank for this reason and because it was a festival day (Poila Boishak) the police was... More

Very interesting place. But make sure you get there before 12 noon or after 4pm, otherwise gates will be closed. The temple inside resembles the architectural patterns of Islam, Hinduism and Christianity.

This is a devotional place which people come to mediation, concentrate on god and be away from tension. The shrine and it's surrounding are well maintained by the trust. I request the people visiting there the maintain decorum and stop loitering in the premises

This is a temple built by Ramakrishna mission. The university is also nearby. As per Wikipedia, the temple has incorporated architectural elements from all major religions of the world. The temple has numerous gardens which offer a beautiful view of the hooghly as well as shade and grass for some peaceful rest.

Although you may find a little difficult to reach the place through the traffic and narrow lanes, once there its a different world! There's ample parking so you need not worry, but be prepared for a lot of walking. The Math houses a very well made and kept museum which is a beautiful walk through the life of some of... More

Recommend doing a Belur Math / Dakshineshwar day trip from Kolkata if you have the time. Be sure to check the times for both temples as they close in the middle of the day.
