Do not bother visiting this temple. The priest is more concerned about your money and ensuring you give an expensive donation. I left spiritually weaker.

One of the oldest temples of Goddess Kali and regarded as the most pious by Hindus all over the country, this temple is regarded by some as the temple from which the city of Kolkata has derived its name. The temple itself is a drive away from the city centre (50-70 rupees / 50-70 pence) and a 5 minute walk gets you to the side-street entrance to the temple. Be... More

Easy to reach via metro in Kolkata, this place is spiritually enlightening and there are many people here. If you manage to escape the money seeking priests and focus on how devoted the people are you can have a divine time here.
