Sacred place but the most mis managed temple. Huge crowds and can hardly see through. The temple area is hardly cleaned and is full of dirt and has the least facilities. Go if you are really keen or if you are a regular temple visitor you wont like this place.
Its a Must see place if you have Visiting Kolkatta. But Be Very Very Very Carful what you get into. Note that its just a temple where you can walk in straight offer your prayers and fell blessed. We made the mistake of Taking a guide who offered to do all the formalities for Rs 51. and ended up LOSING...

I went to Kali Ghat on this visit also to Kolkata.
The best time to go is in the early morning.
Better keep ONLY FEW Rs.10/ Rupee notes in your shirt pocket.
There will be only a few devotees.
NO NEED TO GIVE MONEY TO ENTER
NO NEED TO FIX A PANDA/POOJARY.

Pujaris also agressive about money collection for Darshan.
Should only be visited if you are really keen on it else simple avoid & have faith on Maa...

i had a worst experience here.a bunch of theives are lurking there disguised as pandits.they catch the unsuspecting tourists and loot the money literally.if you want to keep a good memory of this tour, better avoid it.do'nt go there
Pandas of all hues keep waiting to pounce on unsuspecting pilgrims with promises of VIP Entry and by-passing ques to have a quicker darshan. Surroundings are utterly dirty and no one seems to bother...
The temple surroundings are unclean. There are queue breakers and then when you enter in the temple the priests grab your hand and ask u for money like they are asking for ransom. U'd get looted if you are unaccompanied by a local.
Be aware if you visit Kalighat Kali Temple, right out side the temple at the entrance you will find thieves dressed as holy priests who will yell at u and start demanding money from you. I lost Rs. 1500 and when i inquired with my guide, he narrated a incidence where a person was robbed of Rs.4000 few days back....
