if you can avoid visiting Kalighat its better. Few agent will take you for special darshan. The priest within temple ask for Rs 2100/- plus Agent demand Rs 1100/-.

I was here with my wife in May 2015.This is one of the holy temples of India. The biggest problem here is that all the pandits here are super greedy they just want money for doing nothing. There was an instance when near the idol i gave the pooja material to the pandit and he told to put some money... More

Having read numerous negative reviews from fellow travelers I was quite wary of visiting this temple. However went there around 7 AM and didnt heed to any of the local pandits from the streets who volunteer to take you round the temple. The queue was not that big and decided to stand there for darshan. Though we were approached for... More

Dont try find Mataji here, I am sure if Mataji if comes here, she will have to work to free this place from looting by so called poojaris! Even if you dont want those idiot people claiming he will guide or help, he will follow you, if you are not convenience,he will say he dont want money from you but... More

This was the worst temple that I can remember visiting. Pandits over here are looters, they let you stay for a while if you give money or push you away immediately if you refuse to. My advice to all is don't encourage them, don't pay. Make them do this holy job with some respect! Also when i visited, there was... More

I am an atheist. The only reason I visit temples is to admire the architecture, the pure ambience, the smell of agarbattis. This place has all of this. However, if you are not a local the chances of you getting fleeced and harassed by the pandits here is alarmingly high. So beware and keep your wallets close to your chest.

At the outset I was recognised as someone not from Bengal and touts spring to life. Promised me special puja and the work. A pandit and his fellow assistance also put up a show where the man claimed his wishes were fulfilled and he gave the pandit Rs 1000. Next place your shoes, again ' Baksheesh' your entrance is mired... More

The famous Kali temple of Kalighat, it's a piece of history. It is a tourist spot, however, the 'pandas' or priests are not very helpful, more mercenary than devout. It is advisable to go with someone local who can speak the language. The crowd and jostling does not let devotees stand for long to pray to the goddess. The temple... More

I visited this famous temple on 5th May and because of Tuesday i faced uncontrollable crowd pushing each other to enter. This temple has no management and is full of touts, money greeders posing as Panda's/panditji's who insist every one to pay them for very brief/no help. I was shocked to see/face this and recommend it to avoid such cunning... More
