The Kalighat temple is one of the most renowned places in the city. A visit to this temple is a must when you are in the city. The rituals performed are something which literally envokes the religious you. Also all the samagree required for puja is available right outside the temple.

Except Kali Mata of the main temple, i liked nothing in Kali Ghat, please don't go there with children at seasonal times like Diwali, Saturdays etc. its too much crowded you can get hurt specially if you are with children they may get lost also. beware of the local 'Pandits' and so called guides also. Beware of pick pocketing also.

Religious point for Hindus. Beware of pandits (pandas ).Go directly for darshan without any assistance. U can see live `bali` of goats, which can disturb some people. Make your discretion.

This temple is the most highly rated temples of Devi. The place should be kept clean but the story is different out in there. It seems to be a business for the preist as you in the queue the local preist ask for money and say you will get in fast and see the devi and they give you few minutes more... We visited with the sole purpose of receiving the blessings of the goddess and paying homage/ giving thanks to her. The touts are ever present and can get to be a nuisance but since we went with our friends it was easier to navigate. Friday we were told is a good day to go when the crowd is less. Walking... More

if you don't like crowds, don't come near the place. Anyway you won't be able to see much because you will be pushed, shoved and jostled aside by the priests and devotees. The temple can barely be seen and you will only get a glimpse of the main idol. If you are religious and want to do puja, you will... More

if you visit Kolkata it is a must for every devout Hindu .connected by metro it is easily approachable. The main entrance of the temple is narrow because of the flower and sweets sellers . The priests will throng you as soon as you get out of your taxi or you are in sight. But dodge them and go straight inside... More

one of the holiest place of worship for bengalis in kolkata, the temple is of maa kali located in the heart of the city. easy to reach by metro and be aware and avoid the local pandits who will rob you and ask you to pay here there and every where. you can skip them and go of your own
