Probably one of the dirtiest and extortionable religious places. For the non-religious people, this place is best to be avoided.

The place is holy. But the greedy pandits at temple kills every possible enthusiasm of visitor. They often found saying give money or something bad will happen or you wont get benefit of visiting this holy place.

With its renovation and lesser elements present there due to beefed-up security, the temple has become much more attractive and safer place for visitors. Touts are there, but one can easily avoid them and head straight to the main temple.... More

Visit to the Kalighat Temple is a shame in the name of religion. Home to one of the most revered Gods of Hindus- Goddess Kali this place is the most corrupt and mis-managed amongst all. This is certainly not a tourist spot and if you intend to visit for blessings please do so with a deaf ear to all and... More

I was here with my wife in May 2015.This is one of the holy temples of India. The biggest problem here is that all the pandits here are super greedy they just want money for doing nothing. There was an instance when near the idol i gave the pooja material to the pandit and he told to put some money... More

Having read numerous negative reviews from fellow travelers I was quite wary of visiting this temple. However went there around 7 AM and didnt heed to any of the local pandits from the streets who volunteer to take you round the temple. The queue was not that big and decided to stand there for darshan. Though we were approached for... More
