This temple is one of the iconic temples of Kolkata. Despite many reviews about the crowds and unpleasant experiences with pandas, we found the visit to the temple very enjoyable. If one goes by the normal public line the darshan may take 1-2 hrs. For those short of time the VIP route is much shorter. However for this it is... More

I tend to assume that if I go to a Hindu Temple, I can stand in front of the god and contemplate and pray and enjoy the sacred place. Not so in this temple, where there is a constant assault of vermin demanding money. No one who constantly demands payment, who threatens to curse those who do not pay, who... More

Taking Kolkata Metro and alighting at Kalighaut station is the most recommended way to reach the famous Kali temple of Kolkata. Getting down at Kalighaut station and you can ask anyone to seek direction to the Kali temple, somehow, everyone seems to be heading that way. While on the way to the temple, be prepared to a constant pursuit by... More

From what I've heard Tuesdays are the most popular days to visit this temple. Be prepared for the masses of people in line waiting to get in. One thing to note if you go to the sides of the temple down the path of stalls you will find that the shop sellers will help you get in via what is... More

Ohh i remember one of my visit to this temple as learning lesson. The rush and wrestle to be inside will surely vent off all your spirits if you are not that spiritual. The pandit will drain your pocket to take you infront of the goddess and once you are there the crowd will push you to edge for there... More

The local touts, goons and incompetent police personnels manning the holy place makes the whole experience terrible. The so called pandits and their foul language and threats makes the whole experience terrible and dusgusting and dilutes, pollutes and putrificates the whole spiritual experience. The only saving grace is the Darshan (Glimpse) of Maa and at one point I remeber a... More
