Never even dream about a visit to this temple. For the first time in life, it was a terrifying experience for me. Touts surrounded me half KM before I entered the temple. My children were scared on seeing the behavior of the priests. They are nothing but THUGS. Managed to escape unhurt. Police are mere spectators and helpless. Each and... More

I was appalled by the brazen nature in which the priests standing right in front of the goddess demands money from everyone. It killed my devotion. How can we allow this to go scot free? It tarnishes our image as a nation and our religion.

Kolkata is named after Kali temple .It was known as "KALI KSHETRA" which means "ABODE OF KALI".Later it was named as Kolkata which came from root word Kali Kshetra. Visited this temple in 2005 with friends.Again visited recently in Aug 2014 with Parents. Temple is good but Priests made it a business center. One-time visit because of those priests..

I had been in Kolkata for more than 6 years and have visited this temple various times. Its a very holy temple but not maintained properly. Because of so many devotees coming it a bit dirty and the priests out there have made it business house. If you are a tourist and coming for the first time be a little... More

The temple is beautiful. It has its own charm, but the vendors and street hawkers and other people simply trying to fool the people and make money for themselves. We were heavily looted and at the end it really left a very bad taste in the mouth. You go to a temple for religious gratification and to seek blessings of... More
