The place that attracts so many everyday to get a glimpse of nature and its dwellers among concrete jungles may have lost its earlier sheen, but is going strong in a renovated look as well as visitor friendly improvements. Its a good place to visit with family. Elephants, Tigers, Giraffe, Snakes....a very large no of animals at one place. Its a must visit for Children's. Take 4-5 hours full tour. Its very near to Kali Temple. No guide in the Zoo and as area is large so we careful to ask the gaurds fr information.Well maintained and security wise... More

Area is huge but badly maintained. Till some years ago, the migratory birds from Siberia used to come to the lake in this Zoo every winter but the haven't come now. Though it have a large collection of flora and fauna. Kids will love this place for sure.

Our visit to the Kolkata Zoo was alright. We were happy to see elephants and giraffes but were deeply saddened by the mental state of the rhino which was manically rubbing itself on the wall. The place of the Royal Bengal tiger - tigon ....many more animals. though the zoo and animals look very tired and sick, zoo authority need to take adequate care for maintenance and up keeping of such a wonderful location. Very near to the taj bengal hotel.

Visited in Oct 2014,variety of birds and avian species...Great hangout...takes almost 3hours to explore entire garden.Well maintained animal enclosures and overall park.Bengal tiger enclosure is one of the best attraction.The best part is information displayed outside enclosures.Must to see if you are visiting Kolkata.
