Kolkata Zoo is one of the biggest in our country, all can see some rare animals there. Specifically one section is kept for reptiles which is very interesting, so as for fishes. It is situated in a place called Alipore which is well connected by every types of pvt as well as public vehicle. Best season to visit is winter.... More

Great range of animals and birds and a wonder time for kids . Not managed very well.. A huge location. Not at all near standard of ones in foreign countries. But variety of animals is splendid

the all-new look is welcoming and its a lot cleaner. i especially like the 'no-plastic' rule etc. However, i'm not too kicked about the state of the animals...could be better fed!

Located in the heart of city at Alipore just opposite to world famous National Library and Taj Bengal Hotel within 1 KM of Victoria Memorial & Race Course, this zoological garden is at the most convenient location. the zoological garden now very clean & change a lot of things.The gardens are maintained nicely. There are lots of animal like elephant,tiger,lion,deer,zebra etc.Many type of birds are also seen there.

The zoological garden has changed a lot for good. It is very clean now. The gardens are nicely maintained. There are a lot of animals. And it was nice to see the new bird cages. They have some awesome macaws, grey parrots, mandarin ducks and peacocks. We were lucky to see the white tiger. Try visiting early in the morning... More

Alipore Chiriyakhana means Kolkata or Calcutta Zoo lot of species to see but when was we there it was a over crowded day we saw lot of animals but go only when you have 3 to 4 hours spare very big Zoo just like a small sanctuary-thanks-Sumer Singh Saran-

What can you say for a zoo whose staffs do not know the names of the animal in the enclosure that they are standing next to ? Felt really bad for the animals. Live stocks in villages are better mantained. The crowd inside is terribly cheap. Management should really think of increasing the entry fee to filter out these mongrels.... More
