The toy train is not at all maintained considering the number of people using it. The coaches are dirty and the seats are black with dust. Also getting tickets is another pain and there is a something amiss - we were told that the train was full and had to split in two groups - but to our surprise the... More

This rail trip ius a great excursion. We went in December and it is very cold, especially when you get to Ghoom, so wear a jacket. The scenery is amazing, and the railway history museum at Ghoom, very informative.

The toy train is excellent and do pre book the tickets as there are only two coaches with approx 60 capacity. It feels like living is 70s movies with steam engines. Batasia loop stop and ghoom museum stop is worth watching.

Toy train was ok runs through the city. Actually its very ordinary ride. Kids might like it. It is popular because some old hindi movies were shot like Aradhana. It starts at Darjeeling station and moves to Ghoom station 25 minutes away. Nothing great though so you may give last priority. Book your tickets in advance from your agent. If... More

The train maybe a World Heritage site but the route definitely is not and no effort is made to keep it scenic. Firstly, the joy ride takes up 2 hours of your time and to top it up, the route it follows, is really far from scenic. Furthermore, after sitting in the train for 2 hours, everything around you will... More

Our first encounter with the town began with the Darjeeling Heritage Toy Train. Its loud whistle could be heard far ahead of the main town. The traffic came to a halt for a while ~ they were, like us, patiently waiting for the train to pass. The moment the train crossed us we were reminded of some scenes from old... More

The 14 km ride from Darjeeling to Ghoom and back for Rs.400 seems overpriced. But the ride reminisced olden times of steam engines. The scenes at Batasia loop are wonderful.

Darjeeling Toy Train is a world famous heritage facility and a ride on it is a scintillating experience. With its steam engine and only 2 bogies accommodating about 20 passengers each and running at a very slow speed, it gives you a thrilling experience. It is amazing that this facility was created in a period of just 3 years in... More

When i was a kid we had a rhyme which said about a train which had thick smoky clouds coming out of them and which functioned from the heat of coal. Well that's exactly what u r talking about. Its a cute little thing which runs around the colonial town of Darjeeling like a small kid crossing the streets leisurely... More
