Being quite a way down from the central Chowrasta and not being sign posted makes the Bhutia Busty Gompa Monastery difficult to find, but if you do get lost, don’t hesitate to ask one of the friendly locals and no doubt they’ll point you in the right direction! The benefit of it being off the beaten track means you’re likely... More

I had some difficulty making my way to Bhutia Busty Gompa, directed by villagers through steep short-cuts, followed by troops of monkeys. The temple is quiet and contemplative, and away from the crowds. The "short-cut" walk was also wonderful, through small neighborhoods and on the back side of the mountain facing the Himalayas.

We walked from Classic Guesthouse where we stayed to the Bhutia Busty Monastery which was closed but Acku, the priest was kind enough to open it for us and tell us about it's history. The monastery has lot of paintings which are very old and depict the life of the Buddha. The way to the Bhutia Busty Monastery is very... More

Very old Gompa(monastery). The monastery is not too big,but adding up in your sightseeing spots would be a good choice.

Dedicated to Buddha, there are a lot of idols and carvings of Buddha kept in the gompa. Absolute serene and peaceful place.

We decided to walk from the Chowrasta to Bhutia Busty Monastery. Being hilly terrain, it wasnt easy but we enjoyed the walk around the tiny hamlets . This monastery is beautiful. It was locked but they opened it for us. Buddhist monasteries are very peaceful. It resembled the monasteries of Bhutan with lovely paintings. The prayer flags on the way,... More

Very beautiful temple that points the way to the true gem of Darjeeling, namely the Tibetan refugee craft centre. There you can see (and buy) all types of textile crafts hand made and from vegetable dyed yarns. Truly impressive.

It is a nice little Gompa located near Bhutia Basti or Bhutanese Colony. The road to the gompa is very steep but once you are up there, you get a meditating view of the valley. It is so serene and peaceful to look at the resting valleys downhill. There are lovely paintings in the Gopma which deserves a close look.

It is worth strolling down the hill to this Monastery in Darjeeling. At first it was locked when we arrived, but the monks were very happy to open it for us. It is a beautiful, peaceful place to meditate.

The Monastery is poorly signposted and a long way downhill from the town with no warning about closing times. Its fairly small. Looked interesting but we couldn't tell as it was locked up and there was no-one around
