It is worth strolling down the hill to this Monastery in Darjeeling. At first it was locked when we arrived, but the monks were very happy to open it for us. It is a beautiful, peaceful place to meditate.

The Monastery is poorly signposted and a long way downhill from the town with no warning about closing times. Its fairly small. Looked interesting but we couldn't tell as it was locked up and there was no-one around

Old gompa--- worth visiting for the paintings and history. A short walk from the mall/square and easy to get to.

Nothing much to write, but as a tourist, you must visit few of the many monasteries in and around Darjeeling. They have their own spirituality.

May 7-9, 2013 This is a point shown on way back from Tiger Hill. A small monastery and nothing very interesting there. I have read other people's comments, who enjoyed the walk till there, which we did not do. So, if you are visiting by car, then it is just a 10 minutes stop to quickly see the place. Not... More

This is at the end of a steep descent (climb, on the way back!) from the Chowrasta and was fun to walk to. We also got lucky - met an old gentleman there who has been the secretary of the place for 35 years and gave us a rundown on the history of both the monastery as well of Darjeeling,... More

You will need to be fit & no heart condition as to get the from the Mall you walk down a very steep hill, takes about 15 minutes to get there & about 25/30 mins to climb back up. Once there we witnessed several fully clad Bu dist Monks pray in there own unique way has to be seen to... More

One the way there you just go down, so be prepared ;-) But it is a wonderful walk passing houses and with a very nice scenery. When I was there unfortunately nobody was there to open the Monastery, but just the paintings outside and the prayer Wheels in combination with this peaceful place was worth the walk. Great for a walk to get away from the busy Darjeeling streets. It's also on the way to the Tibetan Refugee Self Help centre. It's small and simple but very nice. Steep walk there and back though so take comfy shoes.

Set at the end of descending path with a awe-inspiring view of the mountains, this is a colorful, friendly place to enjoy a lovely sanctuary. We heard monks chanting, enjoyed a informative conversation with a local volunteer, took advantage of the prayer wheels, and wondered at the snow-covered peaks in the distance. A wonderful, wonderful morning!
