"Chowrasta" is the busiest Market Square of Darjeeling. "Chowrasta" means a cross section of 4 Roads. Four different Roads from down the valley come up and meet at this place. A very busy Market place and large number of Whole Sale Vendors operate from here. Its also the place from where most of the Goods, specially Tea, is exported in... More

When I went there, there was a huge stage being built for the CM, which was to come for an event in a few days. I think it would be a really nice place when that is not there.

We were lucky to get a near-empty Chowrasta - the Monsoons drove away tourists and residents. Lively and busy though, with shops selling jewellery and beer and books and tea right next to each other. Loved the giant screen playing Coke Studio and the patient horses waiting for riders.

We went in the afternoon when we already finished all activities for the day by 3. Its an open place - lots of people but not crowded. Our kids got into some costumes to snap pictures, I bought my souvenir (http://dhrs.org/wpimages/wp5a3a525a_05_06.jpg) - which I cherish very much from Oxford Book Store. Also got some tea, some toys from around, its... More

This is the first place we went after reaching Darjeeling. Its kind of center - a small place on the top. Some local shops - where you can purchase or drink tea. There are some benches around - you should sit a while and feel the ambient. Easily you see clouds floating around you. You there there is a big... More

Many shops selling tea, nepalese goods, and clothing. There is also an outdoor theatre space with a Chai wala, which is nice for sitting and relaxing.
