Chowrasta as the name suggests is actually a crossroad where 4 roads from directions meet but it offers more than you can expect. It is one of the most common place not just for people visiting but for locals too. There are restaurants, street-foods, coffee shops, a book shop, curio stores, a wine shop, an amphitheater, mall road and a... More

Chowrasta means the place where four roads meet, and this is the main city area of Darjeeling. I have been visiting this place from my childhood, when it used to be quiet and serene. Though the place is still beautiful, surrounded by the majestic mountains, it has now become very crowded. You can ride on ponies, shop around, sip tea... More

Chowrasta as name suggests, is a kind of crossing joint wherefrom 4 roads go into different directions, however there's another shall way towards Flea market too. You can just sir on the pavement & have a look at different kind of people & small vendors selling Balloons, toys etc or at flocks of Pigeons. There are numerous small shops &... More

This place is centrally located in Darjeeling and al major Hotels, eateries and markets are adjacent. A big plus is the taxi stand where one can book a ride for Sight-seeing. Also adjacent is the Mall Road where majority of shopping happens. Still, as most people visit Darjeeling primarily for Natural beauty and tranquility, this place has nothing great on... More

We enjoyed the community feel and atmosphere at the Chowrasta. People were friendly and helpful and it reminded us of small town life at the turn of the century in America. Dogs roamed freely, but seemed healthy and docile. There were monkeys in the streets around the area. Pony rides were available and small markets surrounded the area. A good... More

It is the heart of Darjeeling. Closed to vehicular traffic and relatively peaceful. Children can enjoy horse riding while adults sip tea sitting on the numerous benches surrounding the area.

A very nice hangout place. Our 22 month old daughter had a gala time running after pigeons and soap bubbles. This area is vehicle free zone which is very good for walkers. We used to have tea at Nathmulls every time we went to the Mall. The markets (both the one adjacent to Nathmulls , the one beneath Mahakal temple... More

Where, but Chowrasta? The best place to have a long chat with your family and friends in Darjeeling... enjoy the Kanchenjunga, or the Oxford, or even the Mall market on either side of the Mahakal temple hill.
