I have to point the opposite of what a reviewer has said - that is, to develop, and globalise the place. I liked the vintage appeal of the area, and the hawkers who I wish would sell better wares. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy the breathtaking view of the mountains, drink the famous darjeeling tea and the feel the crisp mountain air refreshing your senses.

May 7-9, 2013: its the central market place of Darjeeling. Must visit place and spend some time just sitting on the iron benches (not very comfortable ones) and experience the Darjeeling tourist lifestyles... You would see newly wed couples busy in clicking pictures, kids enjoying horse riding, teenage females busy with shopping, and some people jsut enjoying the place.. You... More

We got our morning cups of tea there, fed pigeons, enjoyed a cold drizzle, heard some Nepali rock - lovely place to hang out at.

it is the most visited tourist spot.Just sit at the CCD or any other benches available there....sip hot tea...enjoy the beauty of the hills, clouds and you will literally feel why Darjeeling is called Queen of Hills. Have a pony ride or just see the children riding ponys......

This is a place where you can see almost every resident of Darjeeling because it is the heart of the town. A place where you can get your food, tea leaves and souvenirs, and if you are tired, there are benches for you to sit down, kick back, and relax. Try to interact with the locals, most of them are... If your evenings are boring in the clumsy Darjeeling city, you may spend your time on sitting on iron bench at the center of the Chowrasta market or enjoy horse riding. However, if you are interested to purchase something from the market, you may spoil your money.
