The Zoo was worth exploring, we hired a guide who charged RS 200 for Institute and the Zoo, They are adjacent to each other . It was worth hiring him. Kids enjoyed the zOO VISIT. A must when u are in Darjeeling.

This is a zoo plus a mountaineering museum combined together. The zoo is famous for its red panda which can be seen. The best part of the zoo is that there is ample place for the animals to walk around. But be prepared to walk steep inclines which dargeeling is famous for. You dont need to go for a gym... More

The zoo itself isn't all that glamorous but I liked visiting the rare wildlife. It's a bit of a walk from the city center but walking in Darjeeling is always interesting.

This was the best part of DArjeeling, my daughter enjoyed it the most. Animals are kept in their natural surroundings and there is ample space for them to walk and play around. Even if you don't have kids, don't miss it.

Let me tell you first that if you don't visit this place then you'll be missing a big big thing to know about the Zoological of Himalays. Also, there are lots and lots of walking needs to be done to see all animals/species/birds etc,so keep aside around 2 hours for this because this place is clubbed with Himalayan Mountaineering Institute... It is not only zoological park,it also has Mountaineering institute in it.Very nice and most of it the cold air blow gives you a real peace. It is unique, but most of animals were asleep,of course they are bored living there and want freedom .But especially I didn't liked that they have conserved birds also over there.

Its with the Himalayan Mountaineering institute. In fact, the institute is inside the zoo. The entire environment is very nice though climbs steep. The animal collection is also very good, unique and well maintained. Snow leopard,Red Panda and Himalayan wolf are just a few examples. To be honest. was not expecting such a well maintained zoo in a place like Darjeeling... More

I am not a big zoo fan, but the Darjeeling zoo was unique, having animals from the surroundings not often seen e.g.Snow Leopard, Himalayan wolf and Red Pandas. Something very positive about the zoo is that it It specializes in breeding animals adapted to alpine conditions, and has successful captive breeding programs for the Red Panda, Himalayan Salamander, Tibetan Wolf,...
