Being a Nature lover, I wanted to enjoy this location during Monsoons. Again stayed at the Forest Bungalow for 2 nights. This was a completely different experience. The days were reasonably dry, but evenings brought torrential rains, with its sound on the metal roof, a constant roar!! And the play of the fireflies! Millions of them everywhere! Animal sighting at... More

It's situated in North Bengal ( The famous northern region of West Bengal ) . Amidst green is there to settle shelters of cheetahs , elephants , bison , deers etc. Also, you will love to see peacock in rain.

It’s a good green dense forest. It’s not grassland like Jaldapara, hence not an ideal home for Rhinos, Mostly Indian gaur and Elephant can be witnessed here. We took afternoon safari which started from our resort Banani at Murti. The whole journey was for almost 2 hours which includes a Nepali folk dance arranged by the locals inside the jungle.... More

The jungle safari was something we were really looking forward to on our trip, but due to the winter weather maybe, most animals seemed to not come out of their hideouts. Hence we were not able to see much wildlife except a few families of elephant and a bison or two. But peacocks were plentiful , one in full bloom... More

I have done wildlife safaris in Pench, Kanha & Tadoba before. Chapramari was different experience altogether. The backdrop of the lush green trees is a photographers delight (With the forest receiving plenty of water from the Teesta, the Neora, and the Murti). Our guide told us that 'Chapra' is a variety of fish found in northern Bengal, and 'Mari' means... More

The Mahananda Forest is extensive and runs right from the plains of Bengal up to the hills near Kalimpong. The wildlife department has entry points at diiferent places and, depending on the altitude, the flora and fauna you spot differ. Chapramari is in the plains near Chalsa, less than a couple of hours from Siliguri

Located in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, this sanctuary is situated in the district of Jalpaiguri and is around 20 km from Gorumara National Park. We were supposed to at Bandipur National Park in Karnataka. But our 'Lady Luck' had a different idea in store for us. Our train tickets were not confirmed and we had to return from Howrah Railway Station with a heavy heart. We kept our luggage unpacked, hoping for a miracle. Bingo! There it was! Like a sudden thunderbolt in the... More
