We were in Darjeeling in November 2014 and we thought we ought to give it a go, Tiger Hill seemed to be one of these things which needed to be experienced in Darjeeling. So we left the hotel at 3.30am, and drove up to Tiger Hill (40mins), surprised to see how crammed the roads were with Jeeps full of tourists... More

Avoid this from itinerary. This place is very very much over crowded. The view is nice, but similar sunrise and Kanchenjunga view can experienced from other places. Alternative, walk to Mall road for sunrise.

First, the view from Tiger Hill when the sun rises is amazing! It really is breathtaking. That being said, the beauty is very hindered by all the people pushing and shoving trying to get to the front. We tried to sit in the indoor area, but quickly got fed up with people shoving past us to get to the window... More

Going to Tiger Hill to view the sun rise was a total waste of five hours. You have bumper to bumper traffic going up and down the hill. When you finally get there, there are hoards of tourists trying to get good spots to view the sunrise. On a clear day you can see the same view from the city,... More

We got up early and waited and waited and waited for the sunrise and view of Mt Everest. The latter never came. We wouldn't recommend this.

7848 feet high at 4 a.m never have i thought i will see such huge number of people to watch a simple sun rise. But the wait was worth and when the sun came out i know instantly why such a huge crowd was gathered. Everyone who paid attention to the sun suddenly turned their heads to the opposite direction... Tiger Hill is the best point in Darjeeling for watching sunrise. Located at a height of 7,407 feet above sea level, the hilly trails through the mountains lead to the hill top. On a clear day, the entire Himalayan range can be seen. It is at a distance of 11 km from the main city of Darjeeling. Sunrise tours to... More

We were up before the sparrows to travel the 16 km up to Tiger Mountain & even then there was a crowd there when we arrived. Make sure you get a local driver to take you as the roads are difficult to negotiate. Be ware of traffic jams when leaving as well so allow the morning to do this trip.... More

It is too crowded and has an ordinary view. It was not worth getting up early. There is no arrangement to accommodate such a huge crowd.
