If you want to shop for some local things, Spencer is the place to go. It has lost its popularity after Express avenue opened in the locality. But it still houses small shops which provide the best traditional apparel in the city.

This old mall/plaza is the best place to find all the usual souvenirs one would seek in India. Price haggling is accepted at most stalls; however, a few offer fixed prices. We had good luck at Kashmir Emporium & Shanthi Jewelers. The owners were reasonable, and it was enjoyable to do business with them.

The mall is very run-down with quite a few empty shops. There are quite a few Indian handicraft shops with clothes and jewelry. Not many typical souvenirs. However, you need to haggle hard for about a 30% discount. Don't go alone if you are female - doesn't feel safe.

This is a really huge mall housing every store and a big food outlets situated in the heart of chennai,Only bad is the parking rates are real high but not to be spurned off at least you get parking by paying which is also become a big question in Chennai. The curvacious architecture you witness is breath taking and a sight... Interesting to read the reviews of how this mall used to be the happening place. Now, it is not charming in the least. It's decaying and a bit depressing. BUT, there's a coffee shop there near the inner courtyard. We'd go there every day and get coffee, and sometimes tea if they hadn't run out already. Then we'd go sit... More

Note: there is better looking Tasmac store here where u can walk in and see what is on offer.... More

Yes - the mall is a little old and might not be very attractive for everybody. But if you are looking for indian clothes and handicraft, you are perfectly right here! Here you get cheap prizes and numberous small shops, so you will find whatever you're looking for. It hasn't got the big western brands which westernes find at home... More

It reminds the old mall or Sadar bazaar kinds feeling. If one is familiar with the Palica Bazaar, then he feel the same here.

From the start you will notice that this place needs some good investment. Investment of time, money and creativity. Over a period, things were allowed to go unnoticed and I fore anyone knew things fell through. It's one of those things that starts well and goes bad because the management or owners take things and life for granted. There are... More
