I landed in Chennai on a sunny morning. The view from my window seat as we came into land was awesome. The Chennai coastline was clearly visible .The Bay of Bengal was blue and calm, the soft waves lashing the Marina beach and a few container ships docked away at sea. The shore temple in Mahabalipuram looked distinct from the... More

Clothes, costume jewellery, quick tailoring its all here. Very crowded and busy at all times. Many wholesale shops with good prices. In chennai the streets were named after the first resident on the street and this resident did not want the street to be named after him but instead wanted it named after the lord whom he believed in and... I was truly amazed by the many shopping centres that align the streets of T-Nagar. A must stop place for any women. Not to forget the spouse and kids so that they do not get upset. Everything can be purchased under one-roof (Nalli's, Kumaran) to name a few. Raw silks, designer sarees, wedding sarees, wedding cards, silver ware and the... More

One of the places where you can find any item for a very cheap price. If you are a shopaholic this is the right place. But beware of the quality of the goods you may get and also the crowd.Going in the afternoon to avoid the crowd also doesn't help.Plus the auto wallas can charge you more.So remember, the best mantra is "Bargain".

This is one of the most crowded streets of Chennai very near to suburban train station Mambalam. I've seen this growing from a street with small shops to a hub for gold and textile shops. Some of the shops nearby sells all under one roof with upto 10 storeys of various things. While people go to mall for shopping, these... More

T Nagar (Thyagaraja Nagar) Ranganathan Steet is famous for wide range of shops. One in the pavement as small 4 feet x 4 feet shop to multi-floor jewelry, cloth shops occupy the street. If one goes during Deepavali, then there will not be any space between one person and another person while walking across the street. Many years back, some... More

No visitor to Chennai will miss Ranganathan street, T.Nagar for the sheer pleasure or trouble of seeing so many people throng one street for shopping. It's pleasure for youngsters and trouble for oldies. Trouble in the sense that you have to be careful to avoid losing your wallet. You get everything here from pin to plane, they say, with some...
