Located at the southern end of marina beacha and considerably cleaner and less crowded, Besant Nagar Beach or Elliot's Beach (as it was previously known as) is perfect for lazy walks watching the sun set. It is my favourite beach in Chennai because: 1. There is an array of restaurants and fast food centres like Pupil (i would say they... More

Westerners used to swimming and other water sports will find this beach very different. This is quintessentially an Indian beach where you can go for an outing - fresh breeze, large sandy space, some food stalls, morning jog, and the like. Swimming is not allowed. The beach is very dangerous and there are no lifeguards. So swimming should not even... More

I have visited this beach several times years before but this time I was shocked to see the cleanliness. The beach was dirty both in the morning and the evening. The people were drinking and smoking in the public. Lots of dogs.

I had gone to Elliots Beach for a walk. The air is clean and it was pleasing to see so many families out there to have a lovely evening. Great place.

Visited with family one evening around 5 pm. What strikes you is the miles of sand, along the coast, and the distance on the sand you need to walk before you even reach the water. In any country where the weather is less warm and people love water, such beaches would have been flooded with swimmers and sun worshippers .... More

Besant Nagar beach is well maintaned and has several attractions like eating joints and shopping facilities nearby. Now, on sundays, it is a no car zone. Hence, the whole beach and its surrounding roads are free for all sorts of activities. People are enjoying it.

OK, this is The beach to be seen at in chennai. People don't come here to see the beach, they come here to be seen and see who's coming to the beach and in what. Cause coming to this beach isn't about the sand and surf, it's about which car or bike you come in and with whom. I see... More

This is one of the best beaches in Chennai. It's a great place to relax and unwind over the weekend with friends. It's a beautiful place, albeit a little too crowded. There are a number of good eateries scattered all around the beach and the whole place gives off good vibes. I'd definitely recommend it to anybody looking for a... More
