I stayed in Chennai from 2006 to mid-2008. There are a few beaches in Chennai. Everybody goes to Marina. As its close to the station and more hyped or talked about. In a 2 year stint in Chennai, I just went there once. The beach in Chennai is the Besant Nagar beach. One of the most hip-hop places in Chennai.... More

This is a good beach within the city and it is better than Marina and more family friendly. Elliots beach is worth your time.

Went to this beach last night, Saturday evening, with friends. So welcoming and felt very safe, even after sunset. Lots of families with kids, games, rides, food vendors, and nice atmosphere. The beach has some garbage, and i didn't see it well enough, since it was dark, but the water looked/smelled clean. on the road, there are several restaurants and... More

I visited on ta Saturday evening, after sunset. It was crowded with stalls selling everything from fried fish to toys and trinkets, to opportunities to test your skill with a small air-gun. Especially crowded on the weekend. I have known it to be less crowded on weekdays. Go there if you enjoy this kind of urban scene. Nice to see... More

I visited this beach after last week's bad experience in marina beach. I found this beach far.. far ..better than marina. Still lots of scope of improvement specially the shops in beach is really bad. Lots of space and nice atmosphere in beach during morning and evening. Plan for lunch or dinner near to this beach. Nice eateries near to... More

This is a nice beach but one has to bear the filth and stink which prevents spending longer time. Beaches are meant for long quiet hours. Will the authorities step in to clean up?

Located South of the Adyar River estuary and East of the locality known as Adyar in South central Chennai, this is a relatively small beach as compared to the famous Marina Beach. However, what it lacks in size is compensated by the atmosphere as this is an iconic beach , a meeting place for the hip and trendy youngsters of... More

Visited the beach in the afternoon. The beach is good and water is absolutely clean , though sand and nearby area is very polluted. There is no public utility nearby. There are some beach side food vendors but its not that good. KFC , Costa Coffee outlets will help to get food. Overall a good visit to spare time!

This is one of our favorite beaches to spend a weekend evening at. One, it is less crowded than the other popular beach, Marina. Two, there are enough activities for the kid to enjoy, and for us foodies to gorge on street food. At dusk time, the sparks flying from coal-fired corn stalls makes for a nice sight. It is... More
