Description: Originally started with a more serious conservation point of view...
Originally started with a more serious conservation point of view, Crocodile Bank is now the weekend spot for a fascinating day of herpetology. For the kids, it’s a special treat to see large crocs spend the day languorously by the water. The Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology also allows adults to volunteer and gain hands-on experience in the field.

this is one of the very few places you must visit in chennai. definitely you need to stop over on your way to mahabalipuaram. there are a variety of crocs around and it will not take more than an hour to quickly look around. there are no special shows like the ones in thailand and singapore zoo, but an occasional... Different species of Crocodile, tortoise, Aligator under one place, feeding and maintaining them is a challenging work and I would say "Well Done" to the Bank Authorities. Wonder if something can be done for the bad smell at some places, Suitable for Educative and entertainment visits. Don't forget to carry python and be scared. Thumps up.

Madras Crocodile Bank is on the way to Mahabalipuram. Hats off to the brain child who started such a bank. Usually one won't find any crocodile now a day's in near by river wherever we where living in India indicates the condition of creatures on the verge of extinction. Madras Crocodile Bank have thousands of Crocodiles, Aligator, snakes, monitor lizards,... More

A very nice experience for kids of all ages. One can view all types of crocodiles kept in vast open enclosures. The exciting part is the croc feeding session. There are small crocs and python to be held for photo ops. There are snakes on display too. They support the Irula community (snake catchers)

Madras Crocodile Bank is a bank managed by a foreigner who settled down in India for more than 30 years to save the species. Now they have added 2 Anaconda's on the display. Don't miss it.

Indeed a wonder...how so many crocodiles are kept. It remind me of the movie Khoon Bhari maang. Flooded with crocodiles. Variety of other animals can be seen. Located on ecr ... Near to muthukaddu boating house. Must visit for animal lovers.

This place has the biggest number of crocs in India and supplies local crocs to many zoos and parks all over India and the world. It is safe to say the The Madras Crocodile Park has played a critical role in saving the Indian crocodiles from going into oblivion. The place is big and may take more than 1-2 hours... More

I have actually been volunteering here for three months. I have seen it both from the working and visiting side of things. Both are incredible. There's a very good collection of crocodiles here obviously, and anyone who has a great interest in them like me will be really satisfied here. They also have the largest captive crocodile in India, who... More
