Description: Originally started with a more serious conservation point of view...
Originally started with a more serious conservation point of view, Crocodile Bank is now the weekend spot for a fascinating day of herpetology. For the kids, it’s a special treat to see large crocs spend the day languorously by the water. The Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology also allows adults to volunteer and gain hands-on experience in the field.

You should plan for a weekend trip to this place. Must visit for the young ones in the family. Took my lil cousins out on a Saturday and spent about 3 - 4 hours comfortably. The Croc bank flaunts a huge crocodile (Gharial) which is fed every Sunday around 4.30 pm. So ideally plan your visit at the same time.... More

Who says crocodiles are endangered species. Come and have a looks at their strength here. Crocodiles and other reptiles are aplenty at this place. These creatures look larger than life in real. There is also an option to click snaps with baby crocodile and a python. This is a very unique and must visit place

Yes! this place is truly a bank for crocodile. What a bank does for money this amazing place does for crocodiles and other rare animals. This place opened by a German conservationist whose main aim was to save the Indian crocodiles and Garials and what a spectacular success has this been! Now the Madras Crocodile Bank has not only saved... More

During a work trip to Chennai I was lucky enough to get a couple of hours free to visit the Crocodile Bank. I have always had an interest in reptiles and really wanted to see a Gharial. The viewing window into the Gharial enclosure was amazing, great to see a huge adult swimming gracefully up close! Plenty of other species... More

Many varieties of crocs and alligators including a 16 ft giant ( though he rarely comes out). Not too far from Chennai. But if u r a party person, may not really appeal a lot to u.
