Description: Originally started with a more serious conservation point of view...
Originally started with a more serious conservation point of view, Crocodile Bank is now the weekend spot for a fascinating day of herpetology. For the kids, it’s a special treat to see large crocs spend the day languorously by the water. The Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology also allows adults to volunteer and gain hands-on experience in the field.

This is one of the attractions of Chennai. Unfortunately the place is not maintained properly. Not recommended for people with breathing disorder as the smell near the crocodile is unbearable.

Stopped here on a trip up the ECR from Chennai. Huge amount and variety of crocodiles which can be viewed at close quarters, feeding time was quite an experience!

We visited the Crocodile Bank after visiting the Sea Shell museum, it has an amazing variety of crocodiles and alligators in well kept environments. There are also other reptiles on show if you get bored looking at the crocs.

The research centre and park lies on the left of the road while going from Chennai to Mahabalipuram. Its truly an amazing place. There are hundreds of crocodiles of many different breeds here. Each enclosure is clearly marked and contain some nice to know information about the crocodiles, their habitats etc. There are some other reptiles also like snakes and... More

This park gives you clear idea about good water & salt water Crocodiles, sizes ranging from very small to Scary (very big)size Crocodiles. But the maintanance of park & staff to explain doubts are inadequate.

I mean it. Seriously! There are multiple "pits" with various types of reptiles in the park. From muggers to alligators to snakes to turtles, they also vary in sizes. There is usually a stall with volunteers who allow you to touch one or two of them, dispense little known information about reptiles and answer questions. Its a good outing for... More
