Colaba never fails to amaze me with its gateway visitors, shopping stalls and restos. Its great shopping and spending evenings there.

If you have a full day or a weekend in Mumbai, strongly advise you to move to a hotel in this part of the city. Colaba is located at the very southernmost tip on Mumbai and is filled with so much character and old world charms of the British Raj, so evident in the architecture of the buildings, railway stations,... This place gives a nostalgic feeling of Old Mumbai but still new. Lots of restaurants, street side shops, Gateway of India, The famous Taj Hotel and Ferry point to Elephant caves....every thing here. Buying here is a delight...do bargain a lot (up to 1/3rd of the quoted price) when buying at street side shops. You may also like various showpieces... More

The Southern part of Mumbai full of British Raj architecture left and right and with plenty of shops on the ground floor. There are so many show shops around there that you will find it impossible not to buy something. I don't know if it's still there but it used to be a very nice coffee shop on Colaba where... More

Tourists are sought after and conned. Not impressed with a lot of the businesses in Colaba area. People are not really treated with respect.

Colaba is the section of Mumbai to visit to see old British India as well as modern Mumbai. With a little practice in crossing the street, it is a great place to wander

Having lived here about twenty years ago, the change was dramatic. Colaba has lost its charm and fun shopping experience. The sidewalks were overcrowded making it impossible to navigate on foot, gave up in ten minutes and headed back to the hotel.

The classiest and richest part of bombay. Rich on the materialistic front, but more importantly in the cultural front. The cobbled streets, beautiful architecture, sprawling gardens, charming cafes, alluring museums, bursting pubs, colorful streets just fill up all your senses and promise the most beautiful walk and a perfect day.

It's pretty touristy, but you can include the Taj and Gateway of India in the visit. It's pretty dirty, like the rest but at least it gives you an idea of what "old Bombay" was like. Be sure to negotiate if you want to buy from street vendors.

Mumbai is like my 2nd home, so no trip to Mumbai is complete without stopping by Colaba. The causeway has a ton of attractions to offer, from long stretches of shops to cafes and pubs at regular stops to enjoy a cup of coffee/dessert/drinks with friends. And it is truly multicultural, in that you meet people from all over the... More
