We did a night camping trip here, to watch and shoot photos of the stars and galaxy. The place is very peaceful at night, with just the serene sounds of water hitting the lake shore. Ofcourse, there's a bit of disturbance just around mid-night, by some localites. So it's always better to be in a group of 4 or more... More

On the right edge of the lake there is a beach like place which is an ideal place to picnic. The water, though safe near the shore, is said to be dangerous and many people... More

The name ‘Thonnur’ makes me remember the great Vaishnavite seer Ramanujacharya who fled over to this place from Tamil Nadu and stayed here from 1099 to 1111. He arrived first at Saligrama. Later shifted to Tonnur where he was worshipping Lord Nambi Narayanan idols every day. He stayed there when he was 82 years till 93rd year in Tonnur. He... More

Travelling from Bangalore it is situated about 145 kms and you have to take a right turn after Mandya & drive about 35 kms in Pandavapura taluk thru winding roads & villages to reach Kere Thondanoor or Thonnur lake as it is called. Saint Ramanujachar is said to have designed & created the lake amongst rocky hills. It is huge... More

This is a very old lake situated near Mysore. You can visit this place with your friends and families. You can also swim on this lake at your own precautions. This lake is very huge and is more cleaner. This place is also very close to Melukote..
