Peaceful place to hangout in the weekend, huge serene artificial lake, with really calm waters. Also called the moti talab. You might get lucky to see a water sports company organizing some rides, but it doesn't function on most days of the year. The lake is surrounded by vast sugar cane fields and traditional jaggery making houses, where you can... More

We visited Thonnur several times in the last 5 years. I visit the place to afford a little peace and tranquility after an agitated week. It is situated around 45 kms from Mysore and 10 km from Pandavpura on the road to Melukote. The lake is very large and sitting by the benches gives you solace. There are three ancient... More

Had been to Thonnur lake with my friends... we settled on the backside of the lake.. which has white sand and a very good view to the lake. Krishna ( who takes care of that place)helped us with some firewood for campfire and we started campfire immediately after the sunset... the sunset view from that place is memorable one.

After reading so much about it on TripAdvisor, we went in search of it... all the way from B'lore viz Melkote. Its really a vaste lake, but apart from that, there is hardly anything there. Just one shop around, and not so hygiene. Nothing around which will encourage us for another visit. If I had read a genuine review/comment about... More

Thonnur Lake is about 8-10km from Pandavapura, which has a railway station on the Bangalore - Mysore route. This can be done on a two-wheeler from Mysore. Thonnur is a sleepy interior village on the Pandavapura - Melukote Road with natural beauty enhanced by spiritual & historical significance. Two important temples from the times of Sri Ramanuja (the proponent of... More

Good spot for 1 day trip from Bangalore. Enjoyed the lake side, climbed few rocks. Had home made food as there wasn't much available. Only drawback is that few kids start following asking for money.
