Some people believe: Journey is important and not the destination. If you believe on this, I would say Shimla Kalka Railway is one of the best options for you. When I started planning for Shimla, I was little confused which train to choose for and what do we expect on theis amazing train trip. Please note all trains in this... More

It was fund with the kids. It is not a sophisticated one but is good if you have kids with you. If you are short of time, do not jump into it. Do not expect anything good to eat if you are fond of fried items. You can get fruits on the way a platforms which are in plenty.

Its a heritage travel, though pretty slow but enjoyable. If you don't have time to spend you can book ticket from some station in between Kalka and Shimla and enjoy an hour journey and come back by car. Prior booking is recommended

KSR the UNESCO World Heritage site , is a lifetime experience to feel at least once. The slowly moving train starts its journey in early morning from Kalka. The journey to shimla is full of picturesque view of Shivalik valley and multiple tunnels. We boarded Shivalik Exp which had one technical stop at Barog for food collection by pantry person.... More

It was a fantastic journey, we enjoyed a lot . There are 108 tunnels and lots of bridges. Food served on board was pathetic but who cares, suggestion pack your meal.

This is a meter gauge train from Kalka to Shimla.. It was hyped to be a beautiful long ride to Shimla through the hills. I can comment on the standard class - now wish we went for the delux. It arrived 4 hrs late. It was clean (by Indian Standards) but the toilet was stinking. We had to fight to... More

It is common to find every railway station in India filthy and ill-equipped. You would find safe drinking water, clean toilets and even apple juice here. It is less of a stop and more of a transition. The vacation does not for a moment interrupt while the train stops. It is like the atmosphere in the bogey is just an... More
