Whoever likes to travel from the lowlands of Chandigarh to the foot of the Himalayas should take a ride on this UNESCO World Heritage narrow gauge train. The full length from Kalka to Shimla may be a bit too long, but after a 2 hours' spectacular ride you may want to get off at Barug or Solan station. To build... More

After spending money , you get disappointment only. Railway Car on this section is in worst condition. On return I tried Chair Car that too is worthless.... More

The UNESCO tag is justfied. Very beautiful route. But needs some amount of patience, especially if you are the "life-in-the-fast-lane" types.

Had it been 1-2 hours, it would have been good, but 6 hours is long. You get tired and sudden changes in weather affect you badly... in a car, you can turn on AC, so you dont feel so many changes in your journey

By time we arrived at Shimla, all in our group wanted our hotel. The return journey was better as we were just starting a... More

5 or 6 hours in a rattling, cramped carriage with uncomfortable seats in an ancient train, and I would not have missed it for the world. Wonderful views and plenty of photo opportunities. I for one would certainly do it again.
