Alighting from Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi at Kalka Railway Station we found the Himalayan Queen waiting for us just 50 mtrs. away. We boarded into the small but cute looking train for our further journey towards Simla. Fortunately we got our seat at the right side to enjoy the fullest of the views. Several incredible tunnels and brilliant viaducts on the way... More

A narrow gauge train which runs for 96 kilometers (60 miles) though 102 tunnels, 800 bridges, and an incredible 900 curves., isn’t it exciting and so was our journey from Kalka to Shimla in this historic UNESCO World Heritage Kalka-Shimla railway (built in 1903). We were lucky to have the back seat (in the train) which helped us to enjoy... More

It was fund with the kids. It is not a sophisticated one but is good if you have kids with you. If you are short of time, do not jump into it. Do not expect anything good to eat if you are fond of fried items. You can get fruits on the way a platforms which are in plenty.

Its a heritage travel, though pretty slow but enjoyable. If you don't have time to spend you can book ticket from some station in between Kalka and Shimla and enjoy an hour journey and come back by car. Prior booking is recommended

KSR the UNESCO World Heritage site , is a lifetime experience to feel at least once. The slowly moving train starts its journey in early morning from Kalka. The journey to shimla is full of picturesque view of Shivalik valley and multiple tunnels. We boarded Shivalik Exp which had one technical stop at Barog for food collection by pantry person.... More
