The Purana Qila or Old Fort was built by the second Mughal emperor Humayun in 1538 and is built on the site which is formally known as Indraprastha. This fort come first before the Red Fort and houses the emperor's living quarters, library (from the steps of which he slipped and died), the soldier's quarters and a mosque built by... More

This is the place where Mughal India's history started its glorious way! The massive walls of this Fort seem even more beautiful than delicate marmoreal walls of subsequent Mughal memorials!

A spawling place with lots of open space right in the heart of a busy city! The Purana Qila offers you huge open spaces where you get a breath of fresh air and also catch up on history. This was built in the 16th century and makes this one of the oldest in Delhi. The architecture also is as good... More

Nothing great to mention about this fort on the banks of the Yamuna although you can visit it if you have no where else to go - or you can always go to the nearby lake, zoo, pragati maidian !!

About a 10/15 minute walk south from Pragati Maidan metro. This is a 16th century fort. A nominal entrance fee gives access to what seems like a park inside the walls. There are three gates, West, North and South. The West is the main entrance. There is also a mosque and a couple of minor buildings but the walls themselves are... More

The Light and Sound Show at Purana Qila termed as 'Ishq-e-dilli', was not as impactful as I thought off. In between 2 songs are inserted which actually makes feel as if they wanted to stretch the time so that they can utilize full 1 hour. Wanted to cover each and every name of the rulers was also confusing. Also mention... More

I wanted to test my Nikon D3100 & took it to the 'purana qila'. I was not dissappointed. The fort which is one of the oldest in Delhi was buit by the pandavas, now a protected monument site under ASI. There are few structures like sher mandal, qila-i-kuhna mosque which are intact or have been reinstored over the years, the... More

I think less people visit this place beacuse there is a Red Fort in Delhi. But this place is older and equally good in terms of arhitecture and serenity. Delhi Zoo is adjoining so you can visit two places in one trip. Make sure you have a lot of energy and drinks with you.
