There is history in the most unexpected places in India, most in places that are forgotten. The current national capital, Delhi, is in a location that has been a major urban settlement for a few thousand years, well before the Romans and the Greeks wrote their first piece of literature. The Purana Qila is one site that spans that history... More

There is nothing much to see in the fort compound apart from an old Mosque. The museum in the campus is good though. The only attraction of this fort is the Sound & Light Show 'Ishq-e-Dilli' in the evening which you cant afford to miss.

We expected nothing from the evening and were stunned by how enrichingly wonderful the whole experience was. By the time we reached Purana Qila at around 5pm, it was almost closing time. We didn't really do much sightseeing. The kids treated it more like an open area to run around in. The guard started blowing the whistle to signal closing... More

Rich heritage well maintained and lovely to visit on a cold morning for a run with friends... The grounds are well manicured and was in full bloom with lovely flowers welcoming us... Just 2 structures from the past still remaining inside the Purana Qila, namely Sher Mandal(the library & observatory) and Qila-i-Kuhna Masjid( the mosque)...but of course you can sense... More

This old fort is a hidden gem. Contains some nice detail work in stone, marble. Easy place to walk around. Well worth seeking out and stopping.

Even though this is just ruins, it is worth the visit. Walking on top of the old fortifications gives an idea of what Delhi was in those times. The old mosque with its undergound chambers and corridors is worth a thorough visit. Bring a torch !

it was beautiful ......... the history of Delhi through the ages was beautifully narrated and shown as an audio-visual ( sound and light show).... we came to know many facts which we had never thought about. was a bit too cold out there, and we were "frozen " by the end.... it was a good experience , nevertheless.

I visited here with my 6 month old daughter and we had a great time. Unlike many places in India, it is stroller friendly and I had no problem taking my stroller around the site. Stairs had ramps next to them (though somewhat steep, it was still doable with a stroller) and sidewalks were wide and in pretty good shape... More
