Next to zoological park and nice boating place in Delhi, Purana Qila is considered the place where Indraprastha of Mahabharat times, which became the capital of Pandavas, was the site where Humayun built this fort but could not retain it for long as he was defeated by Sher Shah who ruled from here and built many structures, including the surviving... Visited for the day's excursion. Its large with the lots and lots of heritage. Its nice if one reads over wiki or other sources as it has been the part of almost all the dynasty as said from Mahabharata Era till it became the refugee-camp at the time of partition of India. Overall nice, and must visit.

This captivating fort is the oldest of any fort or any structure built in Delhi probably dating back to 5000 years back during the Pandavas times. It is built on the site of Indraprastha, the first among the 7 cities that later became Delhi of now.It was later rebuilt by the Moghual emperor Humayun & Sher Shah Suri. The Fort after these renovations... It is one of the most beautifully designed monuments I had come across so far. Its white and red combination is so well designed that it stands out in itself. This is a fort in which both Sher Shah Suri and Humayun died. Since then this fort Has earned a bad name. This place is not well maintained. The local... More

One of the must visit places if you are interested in forts and history. Staying in Delhi, I used to pass this place almost every day, but never visited it as a tourist except for taking a boat ride as a kid. I finally made a visit this time around and realized what I had missed. The place is mind... More

Delhi is blessed with a large number of forts, gardens and tourist attractions, so the first thing you must understand about Purana Quila is - it's a little of everything. You'll get to see some historical remains (there's a LOT to explore, so keep walking on and on if you're feeling safe and have some water), a soberly maintained garden,... More

Historically this is one of the most important places that you can visit. We don't even know about all the archeological layers that is there. Most probably people have lived here from pre-historic times. While the description of the places within the fort are not that well described, you should still take a visit and absorb the wonders of India.

The light and sound show at Purana qila was amazing. It was about the history of Delhi and the quality of the graphics, composition, sound, etc was very good. Although the approach to the venue of the show was a bit dark and shady but the show more than made up for it. The price is also very reasonable at... More

The ticket house for the light & sound show at the Purana Quila is in the same vicinity of the Delhi Zoo, but on the opposite end. Surprisingly they allowed personal cars to ferry the senior citizen till the site of the shows and the cars would come back to the parking lot. Once you get the tickets, the walk... More

Light and sound show here was excellent. It exceeded my expectations, specially the sound. The tomb, garden, etc. all were very nice and peaceful. Also there was no rush of people so it was looking very peaceful. The worst part is that there were no fans and lot of mosquitoes were biting.
