Though this does not fit into attractions in Delhi, it is a need for tourists and Indian citizens alike. Per my experience the best train options for travel between Delhi & Kolkata are :- 1. New Delhi to Howrah Rajdhani. 2. New Delhi to Sealdah Rajdhani. 3. Kolkata Duronto Express. The most comfortable class of travel is AC 1st class... More

I couldn't find a separate forum on Duronto Express, so adding this in here. I travelled on the Kolkata-Pune Duronto Express recently with my family and contrary to what I had read online - found it pleasant enough. The one big negative is that the couches have becoming very run down indeed but the service makes up for it to... More

Boarded a Duronto Express from Delhi to Pune on 13th November, 2014 in First Class A/C. I was journeying on a Duronto after a year and the detoriation in service level has been remarkable. 1 The old Rajdhani bogeys which were transferred to Duronto are now in real bad shape. The taps are all leaking.he compartment ran out of water... More

Not really an attraction, however an important leg of the journey from Shimla. A clean air conditioned compartment containing very comfortable seats and excellent food service marred by the filthy toilet facilities. The three course meal consisted of soup and soup stick, a main course of rice and dal accompanied by a vegetarian or non-vegetarian dish and a dessert. We... More

The pride of Ms Mamata Banerjee is no longer what the introducer had meant it to be. The train is perpetually late. Having been the best train in India this is sad downfall. However, on the brighter side, the food is still good and the service excellent as the old folks are still around to look after you. So what... More

The train speed and schedule is good. The cleanliness is also good. The linen just okay. The two bread slices in breakfast were paper thin with only butter. No jam. Upon being confronted with the quality and quantity of food, they had no answer and refused to bring the Complaints Book. Railways seems to have thrown the prestigious train to... More

We recently travelled from Delhi to Chennai on Doronto Express. The first thing the staff does is turn off the AC. I was in first AC feeling co coupe. I talked with several staff members why the AC was turned off and the reply was they were cold. I stated that at least keep the AC at normal room temp,... More

Delhi to Kolkata by express-trains: 1.0> First choice – should always be Rajdhani Express from New Delhi to Howrah – especially for direct Kolkata goers. 2.0> Second choice – Rajdhani Express from New Delhi to Sealdah – (for people going to steel city Durgapur this is the first choice as unlike the 1.0, this one stops at Durgapur). 3.0> For... Another option of travelling from New Delhi to Kolkata. the only added advantage being no scheduled passenger stops in between(Duronto). Can be headed to either Howrah or Sealdah. Food is okay, service is good.
