I have to admit that the ferry trip (in November) was horrible, and puking was a regular sight. Once on the island though, the sea breeze clears your head. Guides are available for hire at the jetty. They can bring you to Green Island's own "Great Wall", various memorials, the old prison, and also one of the few salt-water hot... More

A gem of the South East coast. We visited in mid June. Hot in the day nice in the evening. Not very busy, easy scooter or bike riding because so few cars. Two big hills so if your on a bike it won't be easy. We rented a scooter near the ferry port. There are dozens to choose from. $300... More

Green Island is a wonderful island to visit. Air is fresh, island is beautiful with interesting volcanic formations like General's Head, Pekingnese Dog, Sleeping Princess. There is also a Human Rights Park here that is actually a wide expanse including a former prison for political detainees. Taiwan had a dark history and this free museum shows some of the injustice... This is no Maui, but it has pretty much everything, beautiful sunrises, sunsets, snorkeling, diving, hiking, bicycling, motorcycling, interesting rock formations, great sea shores, local food, etc. This can be a quiet getaway or full of activities, your choice!

We took 9.30am ferry to green island and returned on the same day 4.30pm. It is quite a rush trip. It will be nice if you can ride a motobike. We do not have motorbike licsence therefore rented electric bicycle. Manage to go round the island in 5 hours with 1 hour stop over at the wen quan. No time... More

We had read on travel guides that "few escape being sea sick on the ferry". I scoffed at this, as have never been sea sick in my life, & have been on some rough seas. However, to my chagrin, I WAS SEASICK on the journey there!!! I think we made the mistake of sitting downstairs near the front of the... More

I've traveled a lot in my life from hostels to famous hotels. I've always approached everything with an open mind, but I could find zero redeeming qualities about this little Alcatraz of an island. For one the hotels are horrendous and lie repeatedly. Our hotel promised transportation(there is none on the island outside of rentals), a breakfast(soapy wet eggs and... More

I was with a group of four women friends over age 50. We flew rather than taking the boat after hearing how many people got sick on the boat. Our activities have included a bike ride around the perimeter. We rode counter clockwise. It is hilly, but pretty. We opted out of riding scooters, though everyone rides them. We enjoyed... More
