Super Super cold but good if you get a clear sky for the rising run

At the highest point that is accessible by vehicles, this must be the best spot to see the sunrise. However it is very cold. If you are intending to go for the sunrise, bring a jacket (thick one) and if you tend to get motion sickness, take some standby medication as it gets hilly and windy the whole way up.

When we drove up to Hehuan Mountain and I saw blankets of clouds rolling in, I knew it was going to be cold. As soon as we got out of the car, I realized it is REALLY cold. With very strong winds. The view was stunning. Great place to take pictures. Temperature was between 2 to 3 degrees. Would suggest... More

We went on an early morning sunrise tour booked through our accommodation, dragging ourselves out of bed to set off at 4 am. It was cold and windy up in the mountains as to be expected, and thankfully the tour company provided thicker jackets for us. The view was breathtaking, seeing the mountains layered in the horizon. A must on... More

It gets extremely windy and cold here [even on a normal summer's day] as the altitude change is sudden. Be prepared with windbreakers and gloves if possible. The hikes were brilliant and offered some spectacular views. On the way back from the ranges, we witnessed a sea of clouds with a full moon backdrop and that was magical. The 3158... More

Don't stay just in the main areas (with visitors' centres etc.)! Go and hike all the way up to the very top of the central peak (slowly though, because of the high altitude and low oxygen content of the air). We took 45 minutes from the beginning of the hike trail to the top, and 25 minutes to come down... More

We were here when we departed from Cing Jing to Hua Lien. Nice view of mountains and roads across the mountains. Can be very cold there even there was strong sunlight. ~Please drive carefully as the roads there are rather crooked~

This is one of those places which is really dependent on luck. We were told that there had not been any sunrise for days when we were there. Nevertheless we took our chances, got our lodge owner to book a mini bus tour package for us (it starts at 4am). It was pitch black at that time on the way... More
