日月潭 is Tai Zhong main tourist area. Will be a lot of tourists during peak season. Much like China Hang Zhou Xi Hu, cruise across the lake, temple around it. View around the lake is beautiful, is a must come part if you visit Tai Zhong.

We caught the Tawan Shuttle bus up to Sun Moon Lake. We chose not to go on the cable car, or hire bikes. Instead we walked along the bikeway for about 3 km along the lake foreshore. It was nice , but we have seen lots of lakes much nicer than this one. So, I wasn't very impressed. But, an... More

Beautiful place!! And Lake itself is a powerful shot of energy. I wish I had more time to enjoy peacefulness of the place. Beware that transportation is very complicated there. And hotel prices are high. But it is nice to visit it for one time!

Its not obvious, but you can swim in certain parts of the lake, at certain times of day. Be careful of boats though

A beautiful lake to relax and be informed about the Taiwanese past, by visiting Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village. Definitely worth to take the cable car for a better view of the lake. Only bad thing: boats stop crossing the lake around 18:00, which means that if you're staying at Ita Shao (the more atmospheric but also very quiet village), you... More

Really nice trip for whole day. Its easy to get there. We went by bus from Taichung. It does not took more than 2 hours. Dont forget to buy special tickets. Its just for 300TWD and there is a ticket for boat and gondola in price. Some sales are included too. But when you dont buy it, the only way... More

Visit if you haven't seen a lake in your life. Quite average, you can rent a bicycle or scooter to visit everything around the lake but everything is overpriced.

The lake is very calm and green. There are some cruise in the lake too. Tourists can take the cruise to tour around the lake.

History, temples, and cool walks are the upside. The crowds and commercialization are the downside. Could not really see the astrological aspects of the lake even from Chang Khe Sheks pagoda. That is the highlight as well as Wen Wu temple but take a little time to do the lake walks.

We came mid-week and it makes a big difference. Hotels have discounts and the pathways and sights have few people. The paths around the lake are great there is really very little traffic and you can enjoy the views, particularly in the morning. We took one from ita thao and did a few kms. We also took the bus which... More
