We hired cars for our trip so we have no problem getting to the places of interests in Sun Moon Lake. Our accommodation was in Ita Thao and we were going Sun Moon Lake from Alishan. Hence, I had thought that our drivers would have drove to Ita Thao first then show us around Sun Moon Lake. However, the driver... More

Was actually there twice and stayed at different category of hotels. First time is the 5-star Fleur De Chine 雲品溫泉酒店 on a business trip 2 years back and I was mesmerized by the scenic view of the lake from the hotel's balcony. Mist were forming over the water and the view changed every minute you looked, so it left a... More

Nice place to watch the sunrise. Too many tourists during the day now. Plenty to see and do. Hotels in this area are a little pricey by Taiwan standards.

I was unfortunate enough to visit sun moon lake during very poor weather, most of the time it was so cloudy the lake was not even visible, and the weather was quite cold

the area has a lot of temples, different architectures and history behind and beautiful man-made lake. if you have not been there, worth a visit but i don't think you need to stay in that area. You could always do a day trip either coming from cingjing or Taichung.

Almost summer when i was there. It was rainy and cloudy. Hence i believed that it was as nice as it ws supposed to be. Did not manage to take the ferry in the lake due to the poor visibility in the rain. Engaged a driver and he brought us to the spots that could have a good view of... More

Awful. We originally planned to spend a few days, but were so disappointed we cancelled our hotel and left within 12 hours. Ok, let's be blunt, it has some nice scenery, but it's just a small overrated lake, you can explore it in a few hours. It's like a Taiwanese night market, dirty, crowded, smelly and run down. Stay longer... More

We stayed in the gondola camp ground at the ropeway station. 500 each. We then hired e bikes on the main road that goes through itatho village. We had the bikes for 4 hours. Part of the ride goes through a nicely made bike track. You could get lots of views of the lake and mountains. As a deposit i... More

It's a must to watch the sunrise! Do wake up before it and enjoy the scenic view and the serenity of the surroundings. You will not regret for waking early. We went for the boat ride thereafter, covering the different stops. Ate the famous tea eggs which were really fragrant thou on the salty side. Visited the temples and do... More

We really loved our trip in Sun Moon Lake. It was relaxing. We did the cable ride, the cruise ride and the bike ride. It rained a little bit in the early afternoon, it helped to lower the temperature. If you plan to ride a bike, you need to get one with the motor, it will get you somewhere faster... More
