This is one of the most gorgeous places I've ever seen. They should call it Hidden Mountains, as the mist is continuously shrouding then revealing the mountains, and you see how many there are and how high up they go. So many shades of green; it's truly stunning. Take advantage of the boats and go out often. The hotels offer... More

A must visit when you go to Taiwan right in the centre of Formosa, the treasure island. Wonderful sceneries around the lake and local shops and restaurants in Nantou. Visit the aborigines villages around the lake and take a bike ride around the lake.

Have seen photo of this place before but the real scenery was mesmerizing. Seeing is believing. Had some wonderful shots of the Lake from the upper tiers of the Wen Wu Temple. Don't miss the cable car for the other views of the Lake. By cable car we(myself and my family) reached the other side of the Lake. We were... More

It was a rush for us, so we only visited Sun Moon Lake for 2 hours. It was a nice weather that day, we like old street style food vendors near the water front. The lake is calm and beautiful. Highly recommended. There are also plenty of accommodation for staying over with view to the lake, which I don't previously... More

My visit coincide with the public holiday of Taiwan over the New Year and it was too crowded.. It took a while for the taxi/bus to get in and out of SML from Taichung due to the large crowd of tourists and local crowds visiting. Accommodations were indeed expensive as most places were already booked out. As I enjoy hiking,... More

My journey include QingChing and Alisan. The Sun Moon Lake is in between and I used it as a stopover point. Besides, the JiuZhu cultural village there is quite an interesting spot worth spending a day there. The road between Alisan and Sun Moon Lake is scenic. If you are driving, you should go slow and to stop at all... More

Too many tourists ruin our experience to Sun Moon Lake. We took a day trip to Sun Moon Lake, felt the place was overhyped as a tourist spot. The people whether at a Ithatao Pier or Shuishe Pier are so many. When we stopped at the Xuangguang Pier to visit the temple, my gosh, people were like being in the... More
