Reading your handbook or having a local guide is always the best way to appreciate an attraction like this. You can make some sense of the scale & purpose of the stones, walls & ruins around you. In the heat & humidity of the day, Its a fairly testing climb up to the 'Lion's Paws' 2/3rds of the way up.... more

Well maintained UNESCO world heritage site. I have been suffering from knee pain and the climb was hard work but well worth the effort. visited in august a site worth seeing but the summit not what i thought after seeing the sites of rome. if you go their with a guide so will still be tortured by locals who start to talk and walk next to you as you approach the start of the steps they follow you even if you tell them to... more
