We found the spice garden tour very informative and we enjoyed our small cup of herbal tea and sampling the jackfruit. Had a small massage and it was lovely and of course into the shop and yes we did succumb and buy some products. Purchased the hair removal cream and now my legs are smooth and hairless, products were expensive.

If you have a driver to take you around Sri Lanka you will most likely end up visiting get one of the spice gardens. The tour will begin with a talk on various spices and their medicinal uses , a welcome tea. The end will be a opportunity to buy these overpriced products at ridiculous prices. Go for the tour... This is a nice garden to see how all the spices are grown. You might not be able to get to see some plants like Cocoa etc else where so easily. But totally commercialized and you are made to buy not so quality products at a high price.

Really uncomfortable feeling pressured into giving a tip for a massage we didn't ask for and buying products that are well over priced compared with what you'd buy at Boots / other pharmacy / supermarket. If your driver suggests taking you here, I recommend politely declining!

Visited this attraction as part of our tour. I was astonished how they are allowed to trade. It was a load of rubbish and an utter waste of time. They are only after hard sell. You get tricked in to having a massage without realising what was happening until it started then they needed paying for it ! The chap... More

We had a lovely lunch at the restaurant across the road before touring the spice gardens. The guide was very nice and it was interesting to view the spices in their natural state. The talk on the benefits of their products and getting you to circle the ones that relate to your ailments is a precursor to pushing those products... More

We as Indians were very much aware of the spices around, but it was informative on which spices are to be used for what, a nice head & hand massage & a coco drink was very much nice. The entry is free, but the guide would expect a tip for whatever he would explain. The products sold are a bit... More

A few things to say here. Entrance was for free. We were taken here as part of our Kandy tour (which we booked). We got a tour through half the garden. It was interesting to see how the spices really look like and what you can do with them. Because the guide will explain which natural medicines they make out... More

Was brought here as part of a "tuk-tuk tour" of Kandy. It was billed to be free, and interesting. It is a good 10km from Kandy centre. On arrival, I was greeted by a relatively friendly student, who showed me some plants, explained what ailments they are used to remedy, given some herbal tea and then encouraged to buy some... More
