That temple is in a high place.so easy to have good photos of Kandy city.I think the best time to go there is after 4 pm FLOWERS ARE AVAILABLE IN FRONT GATE. In side the temple a book shop is available .can get the sun set experience. Don't forget to bring water.

I've walked there from tooth temple. It is around 2km away from the temple of tooth or from kandy lake. Just ask for Kandy police station, from police station there is a road going upward by which you can reach this statue. Well built nice statue. worth visiting if you are in kandy. I have not paid any fee as... More

Entry fee is 200 rupees. Nice view during a short visit. limited number of things to see in the temple. Good choice of postcards in the shop though.

Nice place to get an aerial view of Kandy. Entry fees is 200LKR. You have to climb bare foot to the top on steep steps. So avoid going in the afternoon as it might hurt a lot !

Road to the point is steep and rough but it's worth. From the top you are over looking the city. If you like then you can climb behind the statue to the top. Amazing.

Walked up this hill after being to the temple of the tooth. Very steep but not too long a walk up a road without pavement (I've seen very few pavements in Sri Lanka so far - watch out for vehicles). 200 rupee entry fee although the guy looking after your shoes pushed for much more but didn't get it. You... More

Recently I visited Bahirawakanda Temple. Every time in Kandy, I have seen this mountain from Kandy town but never had the opportunity to go and see the place. It is worthwhile to make a visit to this location. The Buddha statue at the top defines the Kandy city and its heritage. We can get a magnificent view of the city... More
