In walking distance from Kandy town centre, offering excellent view to the town. Nice place to relax and see Kandy's attractions (the Temple and the lake) from different perspective. Might be even better after sunset. Small fee for visit.

This statue, all of 88 ft high, overlooks all of kandy. We spotted it from our hotel room and it was such an awe inspiring sight. The temple is simple and so peaceful. You can climb up behind the statue, and get a fantastic, birds eye view of the this quaint little town!

Right on the hilltop, is this huge Buddhist statue, which is awe inspiring. The drive to the place is beautiful and the aerial view of the city, from here is simply awesome!

This Buddha overlooks the entire of Kandy City and it's amazing how very few people take the trip up to visit this quiet site. It's a great place to take a step back from life, enjoy the quiet and peace that Kandy promises. Absolute favorite compared to many of the other towering Buddha statues around Lanka as this statue emanates... More

I went to the Bahiravokanda Vihara statue on my own. I decided not to take a tuktuk and didn’t have a map, so the statue itself was my actual orientation point. It took me about 20 minutes to reach it. There is a small entrance fee of 200 LKR to pay, and you also have the chance to buy an... More

This is an OK place to visit above the hills of Kandy. A small fee to pay at entrance, then up a number of stairs, and then free to walk around. Apparently you can take the stairs all the way up to the nearly top of Buddha, but I didn't. There was a small shop there selling good literature books... More

From the city it looks quite impressing but up on the temple I couldn't find anything special. We saw the Bentota Temple before and that was much a better experience as the inhabitants are still going there to pray and make there celebrations, and that's even for free. For the Buddha Statue you have to pay entrance, even that it's... More
