This 88 feet tall statue is visible from most of Kandy. It's definitely worth going there, and the view is worth it, but it doesn't blow you away. Sort of a middle path, which is probably appropriate.

Very Good View of the City, and easily accessible from the city. As this is a temple, please observe silence and be respectful.

Bahirawakanda is not very far from the city centre. You can have a wide angle view of the Kandy city and Hanthana from their.

We went to the Bahiravakanda Vihara to to see the beautiful 88 foot Buddha statue that you can see from a great distance. The hill was steep and we travelled by taxi. The statue and the temple are just lovely. You can climb the staircase at the back of the statue to reach a viewing area that overlooks the city... More

I would say the view from the statue is superior to that of the viewpoint, the drive up the winding roads is an adventure in itself. The entrance fee is also only 200rupees! Which seems to be very inexpensive for Sri Lankan attractions. The walk up the steps is great when looking up at the white statue against a blue... More

Take a tuk tuk up there and enjoy the wonderful view and the nice little temple around the beautiful white Buddha.

A view of Kandy from the temple, which is on a hill, is brilliant. Entry is 200 for adults and 100 for kids. A few steps at the back of the Buddha got us up to the top for even better views. If we had a chance we will want to try going in the night.

this stature seems less prominenet during the day as the hustle and attraction is connected to the tooth temple. However after dark it fills up the kandy cirty skyline

This statue is visible from all over Kandy. It's a good climb up to the top and for a small fee, 200Rs, you can go inside. The site is peaceful and has nice views. Not a must-do, but a nice diversion from downtown shopping etc.

This is a beautiful, peaceful temple, which thankfully has not yet been overrun by the hordes of tourists in Kandy. I would recommend coming here rather than to Arthur's Seat if you are after a view of Kandy. If you climb the Buddha statue, there is an excellent outlook.
