The lake could be picturesque, but the promixmitity of the high volume of traffic detracts considerably from this

We thought this would be a nice pretty walk around the lake, but in fact most of it is on pavement by the road with a lot of traffic, which spoilt it. Unfortunately, we also got caught in a rain storm, the like of which had to be seen to be believed and we were soaked. Managed to take a... More

The trip by train is a great way to see the country side. The experience at Colombo Fort Station was not to be missed. The journey takes a bout 3.5 hours but well worth it for the views. Kandy was really busy and the walk round the lake is beautiful. We were unable to visit the temple because we travelled... More

The lake it's nothing extraordinary but you can take some rest from the noise of the city walking around it...

Really great to have this lake to this city. Environment is calm. But it is most of the time destroyed by the traffic of the vehicles and couples who are behaving in bad manner on benches established around the lake. My favourite thing is the water splash coming from the lake.

We enjoyed our brief walk down the riverside on the way to the Red Cross Hall (Kanyan Dancers). The river has some interesting wildlife and we would recommend taking a coffee stop at the Colonnial Queens Hotel.

Kandy is a bit noisy and if you explore the city this lake gives you the perfect opportunity to sit down and take a break. It is located in the Centre of Kandy, next to the teeth temple. It is quite central, but there is a more relaxed atmosphere with a nice view to the mountains of the other side.

Nice area to walk around. There is a bath house being restored. The lake has a main road next to it that has been closed for 10+ years.

The traffic around isn't likeable. But we had a wonderful walk and could see: water monitors, turtles, fruit bats, fishes. Also Outlooks to the City, to the tooth temple and Environment.

This is a really pretty lake in the center of Kandy, which makes the city seem less like a city and more like a town. It is a very restful spot, and has a well worn path surrounding the lake which is very easy to walk. Saw lots of birds, waterfowl, water lilies and monkeys.
