I think the botanical gardens are sooo much nicer than this lake, I can't really understand why it's rated so highly. We walked around the whole lake, I think it took around an hour, and one side follows the road which was full of traffic so it felt very loud and polluted and then we walked through a bit that... Nothing special about this. Lots of cars and diesel fumes make the walk very unpleasant. Some areas you get lots of birds that spray their excrements over the trees, the silver forrest 😂😂 In February it was also oacked with mosquitos and equally pesky tuk tuk drivers

It is a best place in Kandy to relax and also to have a nice walk in the cool breeze. Being a part of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, it has a great history too as well as being a wonderful landmark. Once of the places I visit the most to have a walk and to sit and relax.

The lake itself is nice. It would be great if it were located somewhere else! The problem is that it's bordered by a busy road. Buses, trucks and tuktuks belch visibly heavy exhaust. I had hoped to enjoy some nature but felt my nose and eyes burning. I abandoned my walk before getting around the lake.

You cannot miss Kandy Lake if you visit Kandy. It is a central point and is large man-made lake which is rather tranquil but spoilt by the furious road traffic. An early morning walk around the lake is invigorating. The road is lined by mature trees. It is in the city centre itself and the Temple of the Tooth and... More

Lake is beautiful and clean. Has boat ride options but we did not try that. Some shopping around for souvenirs available. It is right next to tooth temple and kandy city center. Everything is in walkable distance in kandy. Good good options around. We liked a coffee shop just below pizza hut. Food is generally pricey in kandy felt. The... More

Along the boardwalk you will find trees heavily occupied by birds and bats, because of the non-stop traffic on the road, going around isn't always an option. Bring an umbrella would be my advice, your nose will let you know when it's time to hide under it. Other than that it's a beautifull walk, a shame with the heavy traffic... More

The lake is in the central part of 'tourist kandy'. It's full of locals and tourists leisurely walking around. You will see monkeys swinging from trees, and fruit bats hanging from tree branches Very pretty and worth a visit

It is interested to take a walk around the lake. Some turtles and iguanas are kept there for tourists sake along with chinese ducks an other bird species. People get married gather here as well to make photos. I bed with you you can see them. Photo session takes hours on Sri Lanka.

From the excellent guest house where I stayed at the other end of the lake from the town it was a pleasant and easy walk around the lake. The side of the lake passed the Temple of the Tooth is the more peaceful because there's no traffic. Watch out for the birds taking off at sunset. It's not a good... More
