I recommend it!

We were on our honeymoon, looking for some coins for my collection. The only antique shop in Kandy with honest prices. Owner competent and courteous. I recommend it!

This store has a wide and varied collection of smaller sized Sri Lankan antiques. A visit to this store is like visiting a museum. The owner is friendly and easy to talk to. He knows the historical details of the items in his store. This store is well worth a visit for anyone looking for a unique and memorable antique... More

We were directed to,the place next door which was a disaster. Coming out, we walked into this store, and so glad we did that. It has a great collection of antiques, and the owner is a knowledgeable calm person who take pleasure in showing stuff. We felt no pressure and bought a few inexpensive things, but left impressed. Highly recommended... More

We highly recommend a visit to Waruna Antiques. This family owned business has a fabulous selection of things both new and old. Antiquities, jewelry and many lovely things. Ask for Waruna who is fluent in English and a fountain of information. To those who speculate that their driver or guide gets a cut: who cares? Those folks performed a service taking... More

Waruna Antiques is a great antiques store, a big selection of various items. We bought a basket, for my collection, that had been used for a bride's dowry. Upon returning to the US I wrote back to get this information about what the basket was used for and got a prompt answer. It has been very nice dealing with Mr... More

My Wife and I discovered Waruna Antiques on our recent trip to Sri Lanka. We had read some great reviews on Tripadvisor but nothing prepared us for the wonderful time we spent in his shop. The shop is full of great finds both small and large. A wonderful collection of budhas and masks, some antiquities some more recent. There is... More

I am an American artist with strong ties to Kandy, and Waruna Jayasinghe has been a family friend, like an uncle to my now-grown children, for 18 years. His antique shop is the only place I spend shopping time and money. He is knowledgable, honest, and incredibly interesting. He sells to collectors and museums all over the world, ethically and... Waruna is an institution in Kandy and so is his shop. Want to spend a few hundred rupies or some serious money ? - you will get expert advice on jewellery, artefacts, masks and much more and I have not known Waruna in over 10 years to overcharge. Highly recommended ! Bernd (London)

Isn't it funny how you can either love or hate a place? I'm not going to bother reading earlier reviews, except to mention that I've seen three on the right hand side of my screen, two of which are overwhelmingly negative, and one of which is overwhelmingly positive. This review is in the overwhelmingly positive category, and I can only... More

Nice place to look at only. Huge collection of interesting and valuable artifact. DO NOT BUY.It is illegal to take antiques out of sri lanka. Most antique shops including Waruna's sell goods which are either stolen(especially religious ornaments) or fake. Never the less they are exceedingly expensive. Your bags are scanned at customs when you fly out and you do... More
