Better hire a guide to take you. The trail is not very accessible. The guide can tell you the hisotry . For example how the coffins are lifted and hang, how the dead are segregated. Must see in Sagada

Go to Echo valley by yourself, it's the best spot. We went down the vally even more after, a great 2h walk in the nature, with nobody, ending near the underground river. Really cool!
We viewed these coffins from a lookout point. They hung along the cliffs of these interesting geological spires. Wish we brought our binoculars to get a closer view but the zoom on our camera took care of that. This was a good preview of the kind of coffins to expect inside the Lumiang Burial Caves....
So the guiding set up in Sagada isn't entirely clear, you are supposed to use the one further down the village not the set up in the centre but both provide excellent guides with good english and a wealth of information. The hanging coffins are pretty cool and a guide is fairly necessary if you don't want to get extremely...

Visiting the hanging coffins of sagada is a different kind of experience, i was wondering if there are still skeletons inside those coffins, (i should have asked our tour guide), Being up close with the hanging coffins we took the liberty to explore the area....took some nice photos to bring home with us...A sight that is worth visiting...Thumbs up :)
The trail wasn't as challenging as the trail going to Pongas Waterfalls but the view was really amazing. There were countless trees and rock formations all over the place. And of course, the Hanging Coffins were there.
We were so lucky to have Ton as our Tour Guide for he wasn't just knowledgeable ;but also passionate about the culture and...

Seeing the coffins and doing the cave spelunking is a must-do experience! I'm not fit but the tour guides made it easy. Though not for the faint-of-heart.
I was one of the few in my group to once again brave the trails just to see the hanging-coffins up-close. For me, it was worth it. It was a bit slippery but I am very sure you can manage if you still have energy in you. You can also try rock-climbing in Echo Valley.
I remember some of my...
