The buggy ride was cool, with some great sights of the desert. Bring sunglasses! For the sand thrown up by the buggy .. And well, the sun.

Several tour operators offer trips with sand buggies in the dunes around the laguna of Huacachina, where you can also go sandboarding. It's really fun! (One can either go to Huacachina and ask the tour operators there, or - if you are staying in Ica - ask the hotel to contact a tour operator.)

15 minutes "Tatar" taxi ride for 5 sol from Ica bus station. It is a paradise-like place. It is surrounded by tall white sand dunes, a small light green lagoon in the middle with palm trees around. Many motels and hostiles there. We did not book hostile in advance. There was many choices for us during their National Holiday seasons... More

I was really surprised to find desert and an oasis. I sleep one night in Huacachina and in the morning went to the desert for a walk and practice some sandsurf (sliders for rent around the oasis, 5 soles per 1 hour more or less) It was a really nice experience. Fortunately it wasn't too hot

Great little oasis in the middle of the desert, surrounded by palm trees, surreal and peaceful, apart from the occasional roar of the dune buggies setting off across the dunes. Good places to eat and drink while overlooking the lagoon.

Seeing and experiencing an oasis is priceless. We had a peaceful walk around the Oasis & wanted so much to go on a dune buggy ride but we are a little too old for that. Fear comes with age! A great visit for kids & young adults too.

One of the excursions we went on while in Peru was to see the Huacachina Lagoon outside of Ica. It was an actual oasis. It was quite neat to see an oasis in Peru when you would expect to see them in the middle east. we had lunch there which was very reasonably priced and good too. This is a... More

Interesting stop over for lunch after sand boarding. Medium size pond with LOTS of fish in it. Some people went paddle boating and swimming. Nice to see if you are nearby but not worth making a separate trip for.
