A bit dirty environment and smelly oasis. People like to sandboard and ride a dune buggies here. Ica is better place to stay as this is very touristy and not much to do here Few minutes from Ica by a bajaj (4 Soles) or a taxi (5 Soles).

Huacachina has been a resort area for many decades, it has become a spot for young people coming from all over the world. You must take the Dune Buggy ride and take the sandboard rides (on your belly), Stopping at the top of one of large dunes, you get a fantastic view of the area around it.

Huacachina is a beautiful and natural real oasis. Try to stay there for a couple of days, not only a day trip. They have a big variety of hostels and hotels around the lake, some restaurants... its worth it to climb all the way to the top of the highest dune.

The tour operator didn't really recommend. It was a few hours detour on our trip. So glad we went there though. Beautiful oasis - not a very common sight. We did not do the buggy tour but it looked like a lot of fun - maybe should have included that. We did however hike the dunes - so much fun... More

A welcome site in a sandy, dustry dry area. It is certainly not what you expect to find in the middle of the desert. You will no doubt start your dune buggy ride here.

Awesome place to ride dune buggies, go sand boarding, and get to see an oasis. the small town is safe for all ages. Casa Arena is a great backpacker Hostel to stay at.

My family and I had an excellent time at Huacachina. The dune buggy rides are well worth it. My 6 and 4 year olds even had a great time. We parked in the lot you see right as you cruise into town and paid S/. 5. The Laguna itself isn't much to look at, but given that it's in the... More

Visited Huacachina with the main purpose of dune riding and sandboarding. Was a great day out! The drivers of the buggies are well trained and you feel completely safe the whole time. It was great fun, and what's even better is that you dont have to walk up the dunes, they have the sandboards in the buggies so come and... More

Huacachina is a beauuutiful desert town tucked away in Southern Peru. I stopped here for 2 nights after spending 1 chaotic day in Lima. It's basically an adventure enthusiast town (very small!) with a few restaurants, hostels, and adventure companies. I sandboarded one of the afternoons...very fun, and much easier then you would think! My other afternoon was spent climbing... More

This place had its heyday 60 years ago. It's now super touristy and run-down. We came in via bus in the morning and left that evening. It was fun walking around for about 30 minutes, but that's all the time you need. If you've ever traveled anywhere with sand dunes, then this will pale in comparison. The "oasis" itself seems...
