One of the highlights of my 5 weeks spent backpacking in Peru!!!!!! I definitely recommend this. It was such an amazing and fun experience. I spent 2 nights in Haucachina, and I wish I could have spent at least 1 more night. The sandboarding is extremely fun and you can go down on your stomach, butt, or stand-up; however, many... More

More than that and it gets repetitive. Sandboard, swimming pool, walk on the dunes and that's it. One day is enough.

My boyfriend and I spent one day enjoying Huacachina, and it was one of the best days of our two week trip to Peru. We went on the dune buggy and sandboarding tour, and it was a ton of fun! I have never been in a desert like that, so the dunes were really a sight to see. Our tour... More

My boyfriend and I stayed in Huacachina for one night which is perfect if you want to relax/swim in the hotel pool (if you have one) - alternatively I think an afternoon is enough as well. We went on one of the dune buggy/sandboarding tours and had so much fun. It's a bit like a roller coaster ride with intervals... More

Due to sand storms our Nazca lines flight out of ICA was postponed for a day. We ended up for a night in Huacachina. We are not sand boarder /night life types which are the main attractions. We did enjoy a lazy paddle on the small lagoon, our dinner out, and climbing the sand mountain for the challenge and sunset... More

We ended our month long trip in Peru at Huacachina, and - despite having been a little anxious reading reviews here - we did had a great time. As you'd expect, it's warm here all year long, which is lovely if you're here in winter but still want to pick up a bit of a tan before heading home, or... More

the lagoon is exactly that, a lagoon that has a strip of buildings around its edge and then sand-dunes rising up and enclosing the lagoon. If Sand-boarding is your thing then this is the place for you. If you are unsure whether it is your thing or not, try not to stay for too long. We arrived late afternoon and... More

I had an amazing time sand boarding, but I found the general area to very dirty, which is sad because I wish the area was better kept environmentally.

Never seen anything like this! Well worth the long bus trip from Lima to visit this lagoon. Stay overnight at Ica to have a real desert experience.
