I was really surprised to find desert and an oasis. I sleep one night in Huacachina and in the morning went to the desert for a walk and practice some sandsurf (sliders for rent around the oasis, 5 soles per 1 hour more or less) It was a really nice experience. Fortunately it wasn't too hot

Great little oasis in the middle of the desert, surrounded by palm trees, surreal and peaceful, apart from the occasional roar of the dune buggies setting off across the dunes. Good places to eat and drink while overlooking the lagoon.

Seeing and experiencing an oasis is priceless. We had a peaceful walk around the Oasis & wanted so much to go on a dune buggy ride but we are a little too old for that. Fear comes with age! A great visit for kids & young adults too.

One of the excursions we went on while in Peru was to see the Huacachina Lagoon outside of Ica. It was an actual oasis. It was quite neat to see an oasis in Peru when you would expect to see them in the middle east. we had lunch there which was very reasonably priced and good too. This is a... More

Interesting stop over for lunch after sand boarding. Medium size pond with LOTS of fish in it. Some people went paddle boating and swimming. Nice to see if you are nearby but not worth making a separate trip for.

I've never been to an actual oasis before, and it was everything you see in the movies. The lake water is pretty warm, and I'm not sure I'd swim in it, but it's a gorgeous spot, with amazing sunsets.

The enormous sand dunes surrounding the beautiful lake are the stage for a fabulous fun time of dune buggying and sandboarding. We are both in our 50's but had an absolute ball. Although imposing, sandboarding down a 100 metre dune is exhilarating and adrenalin pumping fun not to be missed. Just do it!

Spend all your afternoon just relaxing at this place. But I will add a kinda sad note. The lagoon is not what is used to be or what the pictures sell you. It used to be clean and there was more water no it seems like the Gov. does not care much about taking care of it and more about... More

I'm glad that we stopped by the oasis after finishing our buggy tour. I feel that an afternoon is enough to see it. Originally we had planned to stay overnight there, but we ended up choosing to stay closer to Ica instead. There are lots of cute (although a little overpriced) restaurants surrounding the lagoon, making it a perfect place... More
