I spent 2 days/1 night in this amazing place which I highly recommend! Travelled by a night bus (5h10 with Cruz del Sur which is very safe and comfortable) from Lima to Ica and then got a taxi to Huacachina (+-15 min). This is a place where you can have a lot of fun and at the same time experience... More

Huacachina is a very pretty little place (however without a cash machine). I went sandboarding and it was so much fun. Would higly recommend people to go here!

Loved Huacachina. So much fun to have in the sun. Our dune buggy rider was a little ´LOCO´which was cool because it added a danger element to it jajaja. DSandboarding was so much fun. Wax your boards and you go faster. the lagoon is very romantic in the evening. Makes me wish I was here when the Oasis was brand... More

Included in our "Peru Hop" travel ticket was a two night stay at "Desert Nights" hostel in Huacachina. This hostel/bar & restaurant over looks the lagoon & has a fantastic atmosphere helped along by the really friendly staff that work there. The dune buggy ride & sand boarding was, without a doubt, a high light of our trip. Watching the... More

The town is fine, quite a cool setting around the lagoon in the desert but there's nothing particularly special there. However, the main tourist activity, which involves blasting around the desert on a buggy and sandboarding on the dunes, is awesome and definitely makes it worth the trip to Huacachina. The drivers are really skillful and get the buggy sliding... More

Huacachina is a peculiar little place - a small oasis with palm trees in the middle of the desert, just like you saw in the cartoons as a kid. There is a tube of water that is constantly flowing to keep the oasis from evaporating, and there are opportunities to go paddle-boating on the generally grubby little lake. Lots of... More

Beautiful setting in the dunes. Buggy ride into the dunes and sand surfing are a must... Even for the over 60's.

Once you get there is easy to find a place to stay and food is a bit pricy and not that great! Walking around the lake its kinda sad if you are a person that worries about the environment. You see trash all over the lakeshore and the water itself looks gross! Don't bring your swimsuit! But if you walk... More

This place is just a fake oasis made up for tourists. There is a small street market with souvenirs and few restaurants. They changed us 7 soles for a terrible coffee with milk. The place is good only if you want to book your tour to the desert with a buggie or the sand boarding because there are plenty of... More

Travelling from Chinca to Nazca, and after a visit to the Ballestas Islands the stopover at Huacachina comes as a complete contrast. What makes it special is how unexpected the place is. Nestled amongst dunes is this oasis of relaxation where you can have a welcome dip in cool waters, enjoy some boating and surrouned with some bars and restaurants.... More
