In the area of Llanganuco there is that wonderful Laguna that prints right on to yourveyes when you get up there. It is so wonderful you would want to stay there for the whole day. You have to take that tour if you go in this area.

We was there to visit our friends. It seems to be at home in our alps! Trekking in this wonderful nature is gorgeous!

Huaraz is a non-touristy town of normal people going about their own business. That in itself can be refreshing when you have been traveling to a lot of tourist towns. Because of that, while the plaza is nice and a great people watching place, the town itself is not particularly attractive. But the longer you stay the more it grows... More

This is the place to hike and relax. Awesome landscape and the most surprising view of the andes. I stayed at monterrey patio.

Huaraz is a medium sized town that serves as your base for day trips or longer treks in the Cordillera Blanca. Hiking, trekking, climbing and mountain biking are all popular activities in the nearby mountains. The town has basic hotels, a nice selection of restaurants, and several interesting places to see. You will probably want the services of a tour... More

The town is the jumping off point for day hikes or treks, and there are no other choices in the region for visitors other than some lodges in the countryside. Downtown was destroyed in a flood around 1940 and is a plain, even somewhat ugly, place, although it has some decent restaurants. Not a bad place, but not exciting, either.

Huaraz is the destination to start hiking, trekking, and climbing in Peru. Equipment rentals and guides are available in many places. There are many good restaurants, hostels, and guesthouses. When going to Huaraz beware of the Cruz del Sur Night(mare) bus, their website doesn't reflect their service.
