We drove through this area on a road trip and were glad we did. You pass through multiple smaller villages and also get to see the great scenery of the river valley. Plus you can find multiple signed to take the classic X Days to Timbuktu picture. We made the drive with a guide which was helpful for knowing directions... More

You can't miss the oasis of the Draa river if you go to Zagora. Just drive slowly and admire, or stop of somewhere for a picnic with ice cold white wine!

It takes some effort and planning to get to the Draa valley. We rented a car in Marrakech and made the long drive a full day's activity. The scenery was fantastic, and passing slow-moving vehicles while your under-powered car labors to get up the mountains was thrilling. We let our car rest the next day while Ali (our guide) and... The stones, plam trees, kasbahs, people, animals, everything was interesting and really exotic. The road was good enough and little villages lay by the road one after the other.

Do not miss this wonderful valley in Morocco. It si beautiful to walkman a long the road with the small river next to you. A lot of local people go there to spend few hours with friends eating a pic nic.

This is a typical valley found throughout southern Morocco and fascinating for its villages and life style almost unchanged for generations. Intensley farmed, the villages are generally quite poor and the hills that follow the route are totally barren. Well worth a trip through but get your accomodation organised & do your homework as it seems quite remote.

As an artist, I find the shapes and colours SO gorgeous and inspiring! The valley is stunning in its starkness and at dawn or at sunset, simply breathtaking.
