Magical night

Wadi Rum is magical... the stars and the sunrise are unique. I would recommend duning during the day and sleeping outdoors at night.

tExcellent visit with cars 4 x 4 and optionally with camels in a part of the route. Also try a tea in the Bedouin tent. The silence and the open spaces are fantastic

The incredible shades of red, orange and brown under the blue sky, the tranquility when you can actually hear the silence make this place really unearthly. Many people reckon that the surface of Mars might look like this. Others compare it to the Moon. Should you seek a hide-away to meditate or challenging adventures, one thing is for sure: nobody... I'm not much of a desert person, but this place really blew me away. We had a private guided tour and when he arrived to pick us up, I was a little skeptical. The 4x4 he was driving looked like it was going to fall apart but it served its purpose just fine. We asked the guide to take us... More

there are far too many 4x4 day trips and jeeps dashing around. the specific "attractions" are over populated and a mix of 4x4s and horses/camels can make for dangerous situations. To experience the real wadi rum, hire a bedouin guidd and travel east to the far limits, near the saudi border. the silence is deafening and the air so clean.... More

Don't be fooled by the name, you won't be served any rum in Wadi Rum, but that isn't likely to bother you. As you will learn, this was a former ocean floor and has great expanses of sand dotted with hills and rock formations. This is a tourist's and photographer's dreamscape. Steeped in history (Lawrence of Arabia, bedouins, etc.) this... More

the temperature was not too hot (30-35 *C in June), very quiet and relaxing, beautiful views and the local Bedouin people were extremely friendly

The Wadi Rum dessert area is not to be missed, especially as a side trip on the way to Petra. We took a 3-hour jeep tour that was fantastic. Your choice of guide is critical to truly appreciate the area and its history. The landscape (moonscape) is serene in its arid minimalism and the solitude is almost spiritual.

It was really indescribable. Everyone MUST SEE. It was the best experience in Jordan, far better than visiting Petra - which was VERY ANNOYING because of the street vendors.
