We have just finished our visit of Java's vulcanoes, and have loved the hiking. As all previous posts say, it totally worth it, we have nothing to add to that. However we would like to warn other fellow travellers: AVOID PROBOLINGGO. We thought we will be making economies by organising our journey by ourselves through Probolinggo. Well it was a... More

We stopped at mount penanjakn at a view point to see the sunrise over Bromo. Unfortunately it was too foggy to see the sun rise but once the fog cleared there was a great view Then onto Bromo itself. Parked the car a good distance away with a 30min ish walk to the steps. Not the most interesting of walks... More

First time travelling with all the siblings in the family total of 8 pax. Most of them are first time hikers too. Mt Bromo is very very easy place for non-hikers, so no worry folks. We took the earliest flight from KUL to Juanda Airport, Surabaya and reached there around 9am++, indon time. Our driver is already there waiting for... More

Bromo is one of the three volcanoes to have emerged from a vast crater, stretching 10 km across. Flanked by the peaks of Kursi and Batok, the steaming cone of Bromo stands in a sea of ashen, volcanic sand, surrounded by the towering cliffs of the crater's edge. Gunung Bromo is at its ethereal best at sunrise. Bromo can be... More

Beauitful and unique experience. Didn't go with a tour because we wanted flexibility and didn't want to be ripped off, it was a good choice. We stayed in the economy room at Lava Cafe, was very nice for only 150 000 rupees. The only bad thing was almost being conned and ripped off, and the horses used to carry people... More

As we've read a few times, in te bus from Surabaya to Brobolingo, a guy tried to make us go out of the bus before the terminal to bring us to a travel agency. Just insist that you want to go to the terminal and he'll leave you alone. From the bus terminal, in order to find the public minibuses... More

If you were on the tight budget but want to see magnificent view of sunrise, go to Bromo. Relatively cheaper than anywhere else in Indonesia, this trip quite worth the money. The only thing is that you have to wake up very early to catch it on the mountain top. If you were a bit out of shape, you can... More
