Catching the sunrise from Penanjakan was a wonderful experience. The sky was golden blue and the mountain was shadowed by mist. I also went to the savanna, the sand sea and the crater. I absolutely loved the savanna. Hiking to the crater was a bit of a challenge because of all the dust. Horses kept prancing back and forth and... More

This is a value for money destination with out of this world experience. Almost a moonscape at dawn and desertscape after the sunrise. The cowboys plying the routes on bike and ponies (at heartbreaking rates) are less invasive than touts elsewhere in the region. Try the lamb sate at the back of the truck at cemorolawang Y junction in front... More

I came to Mount Bromo from Malang, about 3 hours of trip in total (one way). I am a big fan of beach and sea view, but specifically Mount Bromo is a MUST SEE beauty. I usually doubted what I see in the picture, but my experience enjoying sunrise in Mount Bromo is such an exceptional experience, it's much more... More

After months of hard work, I finally able to jump on my car and headed to an airport to catch a plan to East Java to visit Mount Bromo. Visit Bromo means 1) Waiting for the sunrise over the volcano complex and enjoy the view from the above, at Mount Pananjakan. 2) Going down towards the volcano complex and climb... More

We travel 5 hours from Kawah Ijen to Mt Bromo, the road condition was not so good, and we need to wake up in the early morning to see the sun rise from Mount Penanjakan before heading to Mount Bromo, but it was really worth! The jeep pick us up from the lodge at 3.30am and heading to Mount Penanjakan... More

Sunrise was spectacular but was jam packed when I went there from Mount Penanjakan. If you're going there on holiday seasons, I would advise you to avoid this place and head towards another mount to view sunrise(check out review by stufnotstub). After sunrise, we went to mount bromo and upon returning to our homestay, we're quite amazed that it wasn't... More

Avoid the crowds by taking an easy one hour hike to Serumi Point for sunrise (only 12 people there compared to the hundreds on Mount Penanjakan), followed by a morning walk to the crater across the sand sea. Both walks were free - no need to pay the park entrance fee if you walk in, you only have to pay... More
