Mt Bromo is an active volcano and the weather is very cooling. The journey is relatively easier compared to Ijen Crater as limited trekking involved. The jeep will ferry you from your hotel to the peak to observe sunrise. The view there is awesome as you can see quite a number of volcanoes and most of them are active. There... More

We visited with a tour and saw sunrise over bromo and semerang. It was very cold due to a cold mist blowing in but it cleared for the sunrise. The view was stunning, although the number of people who stood facing away from it, with selfie sticks, did detract somewhat. We then went up bromo. We were unlucky with the... More

An outstanding natural landmark. The best place to visit in East Java. Always give me different views even I visited this place over and over. Love this place very much :)

I loved the whole experience. I do however recommend you take a Jeep towards the slope. Walk the mountain by yourself and come early. The locals will try to sell you stuff but it didn't bother me, the view is worth it! Visit the Madakaripura Waterfall afterwards...

Bromo used to be a special and beautiful site. However, in the recent years it has become so commercialised that it is almost impossible to enjoy where you will be rinsed dry for all the unforeseen costs forced upon you. We were forced to pay 600 rupiah extra between 2 of us as park fees, for tickets that will never... More

I spent two full days hiking the amazing Mount Bromo whereabouts in East Java, Indonesia. Take your time, it's a spectacular experience! AND you can totally do it for free and without guides. There's a giant hole in the fence to enter. Enjoy:) I wrote about this trip in my blog: http://www.travelena.us/hiking-mount-bromo-free/

If you only have a short time in Indonesia and you want to have a real experience of climbing a volcano or just to enjoy sunrise view, better use your time to go somewhere else. This place became so popular because of the marketing of travel agents in Yogya. Expect to spend a lot more than you paid to those... More

This is a superb experience. You need to see the sunrise, but the trip to the lookout point from Mt Penjakan is not easy. The vehicles and motor scooters are full of fumes and I felt choked walking to the lookout point, but the views of the sunrise are superb and are worth waiting for. Avoid week-ends as the crowds... On a 1 week vacation to East Java, Mount Bromo was the first of my hikes up a volcano in Indonesia which was followed by Kawah Ijen. The hike up Mount Bromo was a relatively easy one compared to those that I had done elsewhere but the view at the top was equally amazing. I started the trek at 4... More

Views of Bromo are spectacular. Unfortunately it is overcrowded and full of local people that will do absolutely everything to ruin best moments by trying to sell you just anything. You have very slim chance to see the sunrise (the biggest attraction) because of crowds and hike to crater is a constant struggle against horse renters, beverage sellers, etc. It... More
