The overlooking view of Mount Bromo from Lava View Lodge was incredibly fantastic. It was an easy hike to the volcano, try to go in the afternoon so as to avoid the crowd which usually line their way after watching sunrise at Penanjakan.

Gunung Bromo is trully a nice place to see. But you have to watch out for local thieves called Travel agencies. They will offer you trip to Bromo for "only" 550 000 IDR, or more, and they will keep telling you about expensive entrance fee. Truth is there is no enterance fee! If you want to go to Bromo just... The view at sunrise was definitely beautiful, and the crater is impressive too. The walk up to the crater was easy enough but there is a lot of litter and horse poo around - such a shame as it really ruins what would otherwise be an amazing experience. It is very, very crowded and very expensive (the price to get... More

I have been there twice, every time I saw something new. I always combined the trip with IJEN. RULE #1 True is Bromo is well known and therefore it is a good idea to avoid visiting it during Indonesian national holidays. There is not much hiking; it is like 30mins up and 30 mins down. If you are tired even... More

Okay - the view from the village is nice. The sunrise view is also nice... of course if clouds allow you to see sunrise at all. But the rest of the experience is much overrated and definitely not comparable to other volcanos in java. If you hoped for privacy - you will need to excuse yourself with hundreds or thousands... We left Bromo Cottage 3:30 and arrived at the end of a very long row of jeeps at the sunrise viewpoint. We had to walk about 1 km through the 2 rows of jeeps , many of them with motor still turning. What made the walk really bad were dozens if not hundreds of motorcycles proposing shuttle service. The whole... More

All the tours operate at the same time to give you a view over Bromo at sunrise: all good in theory but is disappointing in practice. While you can't deny the spectacle of sunrise over mountains (or volcanoes) this one wasn't the most awe-inspiring. Add to that the (literally) hundreds of people jostling for position and the now expensive entrance... More
