I felt like I was walking in the Land of the Gods - stillness all around me - under the watchful eyes of Buddha. Dwarfed by the all seeing eyes of the silent kings. Nothing but the movement of falling leaves in the afternoon heat. The peace and serenity of the valley engulfed me. Very close to hostels, bike hire... more

You can rent a bike but you can hire a... more

Priority advice: Get bicycles from a rental shop by the front gate. We did not and it was a lot of walking on a hot day. Seeing this 14th century capital was high on our priority list during our 2-week trip to Thailand. We stayed a night in Sukhothai (Lotus Village--great place) just to make sure we had enough time... more
