Took a 3-4 trip on the lake going to the not so well known 3rd temple. Asked to go somewhere where we could swim and ended up miles away from the tourist trek. Five of us paid about 300 bht each which was well worth the trip.

It is advisable to book a long tail boat and go around to enjoy the region. A visit to the underwater temple is always included as the visit in itself is very short as there is not much to be seen.

The lake is big. There are many places to enjoy, not only the Khao Laem dam or the road to Sangkhla Buri. Also the road to e-tong village, where a couple of nice restaurants are alongside the lake. Light effects are like in the paintings of Renoir, Monet, Manet and other French impressionists!

I was on the four day lake safari with lakesafarithailand.com and I loved everything about it, even if it was in the rain season. Dang was a great guide, the food was good, the nature was stunning. Especially loved the daytrip to the Karen people, including the best elephant ride ever and river rafting.

My husband and I visited Khao Lawm lake this year only having a couple of days to spent in this lovely place. This man made water reservoir boasts a beautiful serene atmosphere and is especially stunning at sunrise and sunset. A photographers dream. The water was nice to refresh and swim in, jumping off the small floating dock at the... More

This lake is located at the edge of Erawan National park and is a very nice place to have picnic if you ride a motorbike out to Erawan falls. The lake itself is devoid of motorcraft so its very peaceful. You have to hunt a bit for shore access but its worth a visit if you are passing by.

Khao Laem reservoir is one of the largest in Thailand, one of the many such reservoirs created under the country's controversial dam-building binge, when the Mae Nam Khwae Noi River was dammed in 1983. All around the lake one can find opportunities for boating, rafting, sight-seeing, eco-ventures, and more. Easy to find floating rafts to stay on overnight. Fabulous views... More

Go for a spin on the lake/dam. Great views and a good way to get soem idea of its immensity and diversity. A little coffee/drinks stall at the Sangkhlaburi end of the Mon Bridge does tours for 300 Baht an hour - in a covered, motorized canoe affair. An hour or two is enough and you will see the site... The 'lake' is actually a reservoir....formed by a dam. We visited on a trip run by All Points East, spending some time on the water, and in the surrounding jungle. The reservoir is vast. We accessed it from Sangkhlaburi via a 'long tail', touring the submerged temple, and spending some time messing around in the water from one of the... More

The reservoir is fed by three rivers all of which are great Kayaking destinations in the rain season. Most people will go out on a long tail boat to see the sunken temple and then maybe dropped of at the Karen elephant camp to watch them do tricks but if you want to see the real beauty of the place...
