The Pai Valley is absolutely beautiful. It is spoiled by over tourism... but only a little bit. The river is pristine. There are some problems, like agricultural run-off, damage from flood control measures in the town. and extra silt from dredging, but for the most part the river is nice and clean. People who say there is industrial damage to... More

The river is a short walk from many of the hotels and guest houses in the night market area. It's also a popular area for camping, either in tents or wooden chalets. We were only in Pai for the one day but there are clearly a number of sports activities which take place on the water.

Pai tubing is a good way to fill an evening but timing is everything! Look at the flow and imagine floating down it with a few beers. If the water level is to high, it's probably dirty as he'll, to low and you will find yourself walking or.... Scooting a lot. Late November is perfect and. Think in a month... More

Actually it's 2 bridges - neither of them the original built by locals under orders from the invading Japanese. They pulled that one down. One carries the man road into Pai, the other is a walkway across the river. I cycled from Pai via the country route past the elephant parks etc. A great cycle ride through country lanes. About... Niels sounds like the Laos owner of the Sunset Bar judging by the level of his English. This guy fashions himself as some kind of gangster even if his angel wing back tattoos are more than a little effeminate. So the reason I'm writing this review is to inform any prospective guests that this guy is a psycho. If you... More

You should visit the pai river. Not only because of the beautiful river, also for the most adventurous bridge. It is more attractive then the memorial bridge. And you should also visit the sunset bar. Rafting trough the river and see the most amazing environment. The cocktails and buckets at the cockailbar are so good! We had a great day... More

Don't look down on this small river. It adds some unspoken beautiful to the valley of Pai. Without this river, perhaps no body would want to stay in those guest house.

This river is indeed not worth seeing. The water looks dirty, like many other rivers in Thailand. No idea, why, but maybe the sewerage from resort anlong this river. No way to take a swim there.

Very scenic, rustic,... But the quality of the water is another story. There are factories dumping their trash in the river and nobody seems to handle them. this was the case 5 years ago, and still is today. Some guesthouses near the river use the riverwater for showers, toilets, etc.. My girlfriend got a rash from showering there (went to... More

We were looking for a relaxing/fun way to spend the hot part of the day. In reality it was dirty, incredibly slow, not very scenic and uncomfortable. The water was so low we had to push ourselves in many places. It took 2 hours to get back to Pai and we were ready for it to be over in 20... More
